Thrift store finds

Hi All -
This weekend I hit my local thrift store.  I got some really great buys.

3 pairs of dress pants
1 business suit
2 sweaters

All for $27.00 !!!    They are all the next size down for me, which I figured would be better, since I have enough stuff in the size that I am wearing to get me thru the next 10 pounds or so until I can wear these items.

They also gave me the heads up that one of their other locations was having 50% off the entire store.  Went there and got 2 shirts and 2 sweaters for $7.75.

I definitely recommend checking out your local thrift store.

I adore thrift shopping.

It's so fun putting together nice outfits on the cheap!

Congrats on your finds.

Lisa,

I'm with you on the thrift shopping!  Most of my clothes since my surgery have come from Goodwill, thrift shops, and from friends.  Last week, I found a pair of Seven jeans for $5!  New ones start at $150 or more!  I love getting great bargains!

I am not sure anything I own is from the original store unless it was a gift to me. I buy all my things at yard sales and thrift shops. I LOVE IT!

It's so fun to look around and find things. Congrats on your bargains.

If you have a Salvation Army in your area, they have 50% of on Wednesdays. We have a HUGE one near us and I really stock up when I get down there.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I suffer from transfer addiction from food to thrift stores.  Love them. Can't be beat.  Try Goodwill and Salvation Army or google thrift stores in your area or nearby ones. What a mission you will find yourself on.

The Lancaster area has some great thift/consignment stores. I wasn't used to this in the area I am from originally - but what fun it is!

I admit, I'm a bit of a 'brand snob.' The combination of finding a great brand at a bargain price is unbeatable!

I also found some really nice stuff (jeans and sweaters) at Plato's Closet in Langhorne last week (it's a resale boutique targeted at "teens" but focusing on nice brand names... tons of jeans, shoes, bags, casual tops, sweaters, workout wear, etc., and "gently used."  They also buy your gently used clothing!

And I've become a fan of Marshalls (Seven jeans rock - found 'em there for $14!)... and Nordstrom Rack in KOP for nicer things (I had to get stuff for gallery openings and found some great work clothes there - WAAAY off the original retail price).

Someone was also telling me that Doylestown Dry Goods has a lot of both consignment and new-but-discounted clothing.  I haven't been there yet, though.

And you're right... it's ADDICTIVE.  First time in my life I've been able to dress based on the STYLE instead of "well, it fits" as the deciding factor!

Karen - I have heard GREAT things about the thrift shop over on 313 by the entrance to Peace Valley. Forget what it is called (nova maybe) and thursdays are a bag of clothes for like $5 or something like that - I've heard that the have nice stuff but can never seem to get over there.

LAtely I have this great "traveling thrift shop" that comes to my house once a month :) lol

Yeah - that's Nova's shop, and I've heard great things about it, too... just haven't made it there yet!

As to the traveling thrift, it's just about out of stock! (people were snapping up stuff left and right on Saturday)  Whatever's left is going to the consignment store or getting donated later this week.  Hopefully I'll be out of the thrift clothes business for a little while - I'm getting tired of carting stuff around!

Nova is AWESOME....I got 24 items of clothing (jeans, shirts, skirts, dress pants, etc) into a grocery bag...all for $5.00....and the best part was one pair of lined dress pants was from Ann Taylor with the tag still on them...the origonal price you ask????? $128.00!!!!!

The best part about that place is that they are raising money for the women's domestic violence shelter in Bucks County...great cause!!
