New to state and site.....
I moved to PA from NY in March..since then I have met the man of my dreams, moved in with him, and completely stopped losing weight....I was diagnosed with Collitus/C-diff in NY in March 08, I lost 40 lbs without even trying I was so sick. I since have been diagnosed as lactose intollerant. Oh, I had my surgery 6-5-06 and I have lost about 200 lbs. I still need to lose more but, I am not going to lie, I seem to have lost the umph to do it. I thought that maybe this site could offer some assistance, support group information, etc. I have no had heath insurance in over a year and Thurs I w ill be getting it back! I am so excted, I can get back to the drs for my collitus etc. I want to have a body lift as well. Now I am just babbling.. hehehe thanks for reading and any info would be great!
Ah, then you're in a good neighborhood for support!
I'm sure Pam and Liz will jump in with some recommendations in the Lehigh region, but you're also not too far to come to a Saturday Barix meeting in Langhorne (will take you about an hour - hour 15 depending on which way you go, but is WELL worth it). The Barix meetings are open to all, are free, and are amazing support.
The Saturday meetings are the first Sat of each month, from 10 am - 2 pm. The first part of the meeting is breakout sessions by "age" (time since surgery) and surg type (RNY vs Lap, primarily) and also has sessions for our supporters (family, friends) and for kids ages 5 - 18 of weight-loss surgery patients (led by an experienced kid and an adult mentor). After the break, the various groups come together and a more general discussion ensues.
We also have a clothing exchange during the meeting. (But you have to take home anything you bring that isn't claimed by someone else...)
NEXT MEETING IS OCT 3rd (this coming saturday)! So no time like the present to "join up" and join in.
It's at Barix Clinic, Langhorne, PA (literally on the same parking lot as Oxford Valley Mall) so you can find it on google maps.
I hope we'll see you there!

Please don't ever feel that way. You will NOT be judged ... only encouraged. The leaders are awesome and the group is hugely supportive. The first step to getting back into your groove is figuring out that you need to... and the second step is to find the stepping stool (support) that will help you climb back aboard the wagon. No need for embarassment or chastisement.

Hiya Neighbor!!! I live just south of Easton in Raubsville (have an easton mailing address though) What part of town are you from??
The Barix meeting is open to all and I guarantee no one will judge you - they are like 1 big family that welcomes all! I have a cooking class / support group that meets at my home once a month - we met yesterday and I'll figure out the october date one day this week and post it.
The PA Board is wonderfully supportive - please feel free to jump right in - we will gladly help you get back on track and get to where you want to be!
Liz
PS - Pam lives up on the other side of town (Forks Twp) I'm sure she'll chime in tomorrow morning - she works the overnights.
As far as other groups in the area - Easton Hospital does one (I've never been - the hospital doesn't give me the warm fuzzies), LEhigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, St Lukes all have them
