OT-I was just wondering...
Most definitely I think negative people can rub off on you.
I keep a toxic family member far, far away.
I don't really talk to the negative people at work - I am afraid I will get caught in the cesspool.
I am slowly learning (s-l-o-w-l-y) not to sweat the small stuff.

You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!

Unfortunately my mother is a very negative and depressing person, altho she will swear she's not 'depressed' and yes, it definitely can definitely start rubbing off if you're not careful. Its hard to stay away from people like that when you're so closely associated with them, but I finally told myself that I am NOT going to become my mother - I AM going to be a happy person - and when she starts in with the negativity I just tune her out or walk away.
I know I am going to sound mean but anyway why don't you go to someone and see if they will switch her seat to somewhere else? And advoid her once that is done or say I am sorry that is happening to you but I have my own stuff to deal with and you would be telling the truth! I hate when people bring their personal crap to work! Makes for bad co-workers. I sat behind a girl who all she did was bring her personal stuff to work and someone in my dept. went to HR and HR had a talk with her to stop and she did to the point to where she didn't talk to any one of us and we were able to get our work done. If you know you are doing the same thing and catch yourself then thats a good thing because you see that. Life is too short like you said to sweat the small stuff.
