UPDATE ON DAD
I'm glad to hear that, Lisa. And make sure your stepmom gets a lot of kudos at this time - many people (especially nurses as she is) have a very difficult time allowing themselves to "take a break" and give respite care to themselves.
I hope you get to see dad often oer the next five days. You will all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Lisa,
You can certainly count on this board for prayers, mine included.

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

Lisa,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you, your dad, and your stepmom. This is such a grueling path, not only emotionally but also physically.
It's good that she's recognizing her own need for respite, which will make it easier for her to focus on your dad's emotional needs. Hospice is truly a wonderful thing.
Hugs.
