ANY DS'ERS HERE?
Hello!
I had my DS almost 11 months ago in California by Dr. Cirangle. He's an amazing surgeon and I'd choose him again in a heartbeat if I had to do it again.
I'm down 125 pounds since surgery and never been happier. I have had no complications, recovery was easy and painless, and I've just been flying along since then.
Life is really good and it's easy to adapt to eating the DS way. I don't eat a lot at one time since I have a tiny tummy but a longer common channel. I'm very pleased with my configuration though and know it'll continue to give me the sucess that I want to achieve and maintain.
I have about 35 more pounds to go and am working out several times a week and it's slower going right now but that's OK.
I'm on target to lose it all and my Dr. couldn't be happier with me. My labs were a bit low in some areas but I'm managing it with supplements and it's fine.
Please feel free to message me if you have other questions!

Hello! I had the DS at Abington Memorial Hospital. Originally I thought I wanted the RNY but after Dr Bonanni (he is great) mentioned the DS and after researching it here on OH and else where I decided that it was the best option for me. I am a little more than 18 months out and my labs are good but I am good about taking my supplements. I can eat almost anything but white bread and white rice only in much smaller quantities than I once ate.
I still have about 15 pounds to my goal and 4 to the doctor's goal but I am still losing only slower now. But I am 61 and wouldn't expect to lose as fast as someone younger. Good luck with your decision.

Wouldn't have done anything else. The DS is a rare gift, and a powerful one. You need to be committed to eating right and supplements forever...but it's the biggest gun and will give you the best chance at keeping the weight off permanently.
I'm 4 1/2 years out and no regrets.
Good luck. My surgeon is Dr. Peters and I would recommend him to anyone. he's fabulous.
