Food categorization clarification - Assistance Needed

Hi everyone,

Okay, I think I am beginning to get things.  I took out the book from the nutrionalist and realize that I am not eating anywhere near what I should.  I should be meeting the suggested servings from each category.  ie. soup, milk, beverage, meat, veggies, fat/oils, fruit, sweets etc...

My question is the following;

If I have 2 TBSP of light blue cheese salad dressing, what category does that fall into?

If I have 2 TBSP of tomatoe sauce, what category does that fall into?

If I put in a cup of water to make soup, does that count as a soup and 1 of my beverages?

I appreciate the help.

Thanks.
Geoff

I don't know how all that works.. I would think the dressing would be in the fats.

Don't know about the tomato sauce and I would say NO to the water in the soup.  BUT, I might be wrong.

Sorry

I don't know that the condiments have a catagory or it might just be that.

Since you are still on pureed I would think that the soup would count towards your liquids. We were told anything non-carbonated and decaffinated counted towards them - protein shakes, broth etc.

Thanks Liz.

I have a question for you please.

Yesterday morning, I realized I was not eating or drinking enough so I took out the book my Nutrionalist gave me and realized I had to have a certain amount of servings from each of the categories per day.

According to fitday, I had about 727 calories, 24.7g fat, 55.7g carbs and 61.2 proteins.

I had a total of about 42oz of fluids.

When I got weighed this morning, my scale was up a pound.  Obviously this was upsetting.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I eating too much now?

Also, are you limited to only 1 cup of coffee per day?  and does it have to be decaf? and why?

Liz, thanks.

Dressing- a fat

Tomatoe sauce and the water- both are liquids... so part of the beverages/fluid count... but later I would count the sauce (if it is pretty much all mator) a veggie or sorts... but for now... liquid...

Your wieght can fluctuate alot in one day  (you know some women complain about 'monthly water weight')  I don't think you're doing anything wrong... Just relax and keep on the path.

The caffeine in coffee (any caffein really)  is a dehydrator and will sap your body of fluids.  So, it's counter productive to drink alot of caffeine when you are trying to watch hydration levels.

Decaf is not so bad... I used to be a big time 'hi test coffee'drinker, but have lived without it now for 1.5 years.  I learned to switch between decaf coffee and various decaf teas.

Happy Sunday!
