Hi All,

Thanks for everyones' support during this time.  I had my surgery on Thursday and feeling great.  I took tylenol once today and was at Walmart reading nutrition label for almost 2 hours today.  Any suggestions for recipes during this liquid stage?  I have been on liquid since August 24th and getting tired of drinking tea and protein shakes.  I do have to drink more water though.  I am taking everyday as it comes.
Thanks again.

Sounds like you are doing great! Protein and water! Sip Sip Sip and Walk Walk Walk!

My favorite protein shake is 1/2 a frozen banana (when they start to get black peel them and toss them in the freezer in a ziplock bag) chocolate protein powder and soy milk. This early out just make sure you strain it to get out any banana chunks. You can also add PB2 to your chocolate protein shakes - love that too! I know boring - I only like the chocolate protein, the nectar cappuccino and the nectar fuzzy navel.

Hi - I enjoyed strained soups when I was on liquids.  Bean soups in particular tasted really good to me.

I do yogurt, cream of (insert flavor here) soups, sf pudding

I have several sugar free syrups so I make the following shakes:

Pina colada shake
Peanut butter shake
Mixed berry shake
Butter rum shake

I find my shake recipes at Bariatriceating.com

I am on day 13 of my liquid diet.  Keep up the good work. (only a couple more days till I get pureed)

Congratulations and best of luck on your weight loss journey!  I can't believe I ever go through the liquid phase of the post up...but I did,  and you will too!  Nice to have another bandster on the PA forum...(actually every one on this site is so caring and friendly)  Great support from across the state...talk with you soon!

Congrats!  You're doing great!  and I certainly remember the nutrition-label stage early out taking FOREVER and wondering if I was going to have to start planning full-day grocery shopping trips.  Thankfully, it's gotten a lot easier over time (although label reading has become a definite habit - and grocery shopping does take a little more time than it used to).

You've gotten some good suggestions.  Nice brothy soups and soups that I could puree and then strain (like the really great Martha Stewart's Turkey Noodle soup sold at Costco - very high protein and low fat) were great additions to the liquid phase.  SF pudding, too.  And you can make a huge variety of protein shakes by adding in fruits - frozen peaches, strawberries, raspberries, bananas, whatever you like!

Also - get to be friends with greek yogurt.  At this stage you can add it to a nice chicken soup to make a low fat and REALLY high protein cream of chicken soup.  Adding it to other soups and mixes boosts the protein and adds no fat or cholesterol.  Basically, it tastes kinda like sour cream, but can also be sweetened and eaten with pureed fruit to make your own fruit yogurt.  Very creamy and tasty.

BariatricEating.com is a great source of recipes, as well as your Barix Bible!

Have fun!
