Hi! I am looking for anyone who had their RNY at Magees Womans Hospital in Pittsburgh PA? I would like to hear about your experience and would love to know who your surgeon was? I am seeing Dr. Giselle Hamad. I am about 3 hours from Pittsburgh but also would like to know about any support groups or meetings. I would not be able to attend all the time because of distance but support would be great when I would be able to attend. Thanks in advance. Loretta
Loretta,
I had my RNY surgery at Magee-Women's Hospital on 2/23/09 by Dr. Ramanathan. I had an amazing experience. The follow up care is absolutely amazing. They always answer questions,. No matter how many there are or how many times you call a day, they never seem annoyed or brush you aside. On my surgery day, the nurses and staff did everything they could to make sure I was calm and felt OK about everything. When I woke up from surgery, from the time I was in recovery I knew that I was in good hands. I don't have one bad thing to say about the hospital or staff.
We actually started a Western PA Cooking/Support group. We're a mixed bunch of pre-ops and post-ops that love to laugh and have fun. The hospitals have meetings too, but I find it a lot more fun to connect with people outside of that. I think it's more relaxed!
If you have any questions or anything, PM me anytime!!!
