If you are 85# overweight and have no co-morbidities, you will not qualify for surgery.  Unbelievable.  You must have at least 2 co-morbidities to qualify or be at least 100# overweight.

My insurance required a BMI of 40 or greater and 2 co-morbidities.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I'm no expert, but I'd suggest they look at other reputable facilities.  What's the BMI?

36, she doesn't even qualify for the band, because of having no co-morbidities other than back surgery after back surgery.

My husbands first wife, was only 40 to 50 pounds overweight and they did her rny...today they are doing surgery on people who have other problems besides being l00% overweight, she was in a very bad accident and got "babyshake snydrom" and the meds they gave her caused her to gain and gain so this put a stop on it....and of course she looks and feels better, and also their was a guy that got injured in Iraq, they couldn't help me with acid reflux and it was eating his throat, they did rny on him, maybe it is the facility, she should check out other places....they are starting to call the department also a metabolic /bariatric dept. because of all the good this surgery will do for other problems..........
