Good morning all-
I am a little concerned. I have really, really bad diarrhea that won't go away with Imodium. Of course, yesterday was my first day at work and I was in the bathroom all morning. Today, at 6am it woke me up. It's like water and yesterday I went about 20 times..no lie. Today three times in 15 mins. It started on Monday but was only in the morning. I also had a heartburn'ish feeling in my chest but I take Prilosec OTC almost everyday. I was thinking maybe my kids brought something home and since I had surgery a few months ago my ammune system is low??? At what point should I call the Dr and what Dr should I call?? I had my gallbladder checked last month and they said it was good. Any suggestions?
Thank you all for your help!

I know theres a stomach virus going around. I had it (only lasted a day) but I've had that annoying pain in my gut and a headache for almost a week now. ugh.

I say drink loads of fluids and if you're not better by Monday call. They may want to do a stool culture to see if it's bacterial.

good luck.

I agree - follow that BRAT diet the best we can (bananas, rice, applesace and toast) it might help, along with something like yogurt to help out the bacterias and some gatorade or soemthing with electrolites. A call to the Dr can't hurt since it is a long holiday weekend and I am sure that they are closed monday.

Hope you feel better!

Canned pumpkin will also help to slow things down.

I called my family Dr and am seeing them today. I only can do the B in the BRAT...lol. I did eat 2 bananas so far so I hope I'm good.

Norm,
I only like the pumpkin pudding recipe you and Mary posted last year...does that count...lol.

Thanks for the help. I want it to stop before the weekend so it can't hurt to see the Dr.

Mine lasted for months - on and off.  Have you been on any antibiotics recently (in the last month or two).  If so, you may want to talk with your primary doc about getting tested for C-Diff.

Just a thought.  Also C-Diff can be pretty tricky to disgnose with bariatric patients - so you may want to mention that - and may have to provide 3 samples (3 days in a row).  The cure is simple - a special medication for 10 - 14 days will handle it.

Just be careful with the runs - remember our systems are delicate and too much of the runny stuff can dehydrate us fairly quickly.

Thanks Kim. I just got back from the Dr and they want me to poop in a container and they are going to run all types of test and they want to do a few blood test. If nothing comes out of that and I am still having a problem then she is going to do a scan. Now the fun begins...lol.

I had this issue about 2 months ago. I had to ****s for a week went to the doctor got the hat to poop in and miraculously I was cured the next day. I think the prospect of pooping and scooping my own crap and then bringing it to Quest straightened me out pronto!

I hope you have the same experience.

At least you got a hat. I got a little butter container...I think the thought scared the crap out of me because I am back to normal today....go figure. It was scarey considering my mom has colon cancer and my dad is now having colon issues....at least I know it's all good. Thank goodness. I can enjoy the long weekend...lol.

Thanks guys!
