I hope your friend in the hospital does ok with all she is going through!
Oh - and I remember clearly how nervous I was! Actually - I wouldn't "admit" (even to myself) I was nervous until I was actually IN the hospital. I was the patient who was a blubbering idiot in the waiting room crying so hard I couldn't even talk...started getting that way when the nurses started asking me all the pre op questions. To the point that they said "you don't seem to be confident in your decision if you are this upset so perhaps we should post pone it" That got me to stop crying REAL quick, LOL
