Hi. My name is LaChelle, and I will be moving to the area in about 3-4 weeks. I am needing information about RNY surgeons in the Pittsburgh area. I will actually be living in WV, but I will want to go to a larger city for my after care and follow-up. I am 18 months out, and just on maintinence now, so I will just need a physician that will take on my case now that I am this far out.

If you can, please post any information about your doctors, and what makes you like them the best. I will need to take as much info to my doctor as I can, so he can refer me to them.

Thanks for all your help.  I look forward to getting involved in events in the area as soon as I get moved and settled in.

Even tho I have a Realize band  I can recommend  Dr Urbant  and Dr Gange at West Penn Hospital.

Both are very caring and gentle and their staff are the best.  Best of all I never had to wait long to get an appointment and phone calls were answered the same day.

Best of luck

Hi LaChelle and welcome to the PA forum!!!!!

If you check out any of the major hospital systems in Pittsburgh you will find excellent bariatric surgery groups.

The main ones are:      UPMC Magee Bariatric Surgery,  West Penn Allegheny General , and UPMC St. Margaret.    Of course there are a few others in the smaller hospitals,  like Hope Bariatrics in St. Clair and Sewickley.

You will find quite a few of us members here who have had surgery at any of the above places. Most of the groups have multiple surgeons with  them.     I had mine at UPMC Magee with Dr. George Eid.  I highly recommend him and Magee!!!

We are also in the beginning stages of setting up a western PA cooking class / support group.  Let us know if you think you might be interested.

What part of WV are you moving to?  There are also several wv people here who have had their surgery in pittsburgh.    I grew up on Wheeling wv and still have family there!!!

Here are a few links to pittsburgh bariatric surgery groups.  Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, and all of the suggestions. I will print this off, and take it to my wls surgeon, and see if he can refer me to any of the ones listed.

I am going to be moving into Chester, WV, so I will only be about 5 minutes from the state line! I can't wait to finally get settled in and ready to work.

Once I get settled in, and back online and ready to get into the support groups, then I will make sure to post more often. I just haven't had much time to post anything lately. I am ready to get back into OH tho! I have missed it!

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend, and enjoy yourselves! Talk to you soon! Thanks again!
