We were at LVH Support group on Wed and they spoke of Almond flour to cook with.  So, I picked some up at Echo Hill today and now have no idea what to do with it.  I was thinking before I got it maybe biscuits, but the woman at the store said it has more of a meal texture...anyone use this?

yep - it isn't the texture of flour - it is really just ground almonds, you can make your own just toss almonds into the food processor and whir until like corn meal. I've made pound cake with them and cookies. If you go down a few posts - someone asked about their sweet tooth there is a recipe in there for the pound cake.

ETA - it is also good to coat chicken strips for a chicken fingers type dish.

According to the recipes I've found and my experiments (a little limited due to time), you can use it to substitute for 1/3 - 1/2 of the regular flour in baked goods, which decreases the carb load of the resulting product.

I also use it for coating fish for pan-searing and for breading. Yummy!

I made the 3 minute chocolate cake in the microwave.  Brian liked it o.

Echo Hill is run by an Amish family.  They have tons of organic things.  All the sub. sweetners.  Bagged nuts of almost every kind.  Bagged soup and dip mixes.  It's kind of hard to explain...sort of a health food type store but with other things too.  Worth checking out!!

In Fleetwood.  If you go out of my neighborhood on the other side it takes you right to the road...Dryville Rd and it is just up a bit.
Happy to be in

It is to be used in place of flour for breading.  In the future you can make your own by grinding unsalted almond to a powder with a good food processor.  You need to refrigerate the powdered almonds and it has a short shelf life.  Suggestion is to only grind what you can use within 10 days.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.
