The Old Linda-Second Childhood

wow this is a funny one.  I can remember when I was in my teens and my 20's until I was about 34 when I loved wearing dungarees and nice shirts and stuff like that until I had gained so much weight and went to big tops and elastic pants. Seems like a crazy thing.  Now that I had my wls I am back to dressing the way I used to only shopping at places like The Limited (clearance rack) and Forever 21 and wearing a Brighton silver belt and wearing Uggs.  Am I having my second childhood? I also went to a bridal shower last week and someone said to me wow Linda I wish I could dress that young.  I actually didn't know what to say so I said thank you.  Now mind you I wasn't wearing a mini skirt just a pair of dungarees, flowing top, brighton belt and sandals. Second childhood here I come.  And I am doing funny crazy stuff like acting silly and making funny faces and laughing alot more.  My daughter tells me "Mom where did that come from?  Where is my mom and what have you done with her"? Yes!

I doubt its a second childhood - more like we had to dress like old ladies when we were so fluffy that when we can finally get back into nice, stylish clothing its fun to shop and buy cool stuff again. I look at old pictures of myself now and I'm in stretchy jeans and/or pants and bit knit tops trying to cover everything. Now I find that I'm wearing clothes a lot more fitted (not tight) and shopping in places like Old Navy! I've actually had to go to friends and ask them to help me pick out stuff that doesn't look like old lady clothing now.

And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Brighton stuff - my daughter bought us matching ankle bracelets when she came back this month - I've NEVER worn an ankle bracelet and have to admit I had to add a little extender to it, but I felt so 'cool' wearing it with my capris and loved it. Haven't even thought about belts yet, but maybe someday.

So you enjoy the new you!! And hey, even if you are going thru your second childhood this surgery is like a rebirth for so many of us that maybe we're all going thru it!! Nicole and zip lining and now paintball??? Yeah, I think she's there with us - LOL!!!

Linda,

I hear ya!  I'm now looking at (and considering) clothing that I have always wished for... but never thought I "could" wear... and now I can!

To me, youth is all about attitude, not physical age.  I know some 20 year olds who I'm "younger" than, in fact.  So I wear what feels right and makes me feel good, and who cares who it was designed for initially!  I say ROCK IT.

Hi Linda!!!!

Not from PA but I seen your post! I don't think it's a second childhood as much as just feeling good and have a real clothing choice instead of wearing certain clothes because you have no choice.

As you know I have not had my surgery yet but I can't wait to shop at the vintage clothes stores in Hollywood...and to really wear my Ariat boots when I ride. My feet are too fat and swollen for boots,

Melissa all in good time it will come together.  I bought a pair of uggs short ones before surgery and now I am wearing the long ones. Vintage sounds interesting hmmm what a thought.
