Travel food

We leave on Tuesday for a week long trip to Northern Michigan for my son's wedding, and a lot of family activities that go along with that.

I plan to take my own cooler with food to assure that I can eat what I need to when I need to.

What would you recommend taking along? What has worked for those of you who have had to face travel situations.

(PS - I am oddly NOT concerned about what to eat at the reception or what anyone thinks about what I eat. Very few know I have had surgery and I don't see most of these people very often...no biggy there! More concerned about "road food" and being sure I can get enough protein in!)

Things that are easy for traveling - beef jerkey, cheese sticks, yogurt, pudding cups, lunch meat roll ups. Luckily most "convenience stores" sell sandwiches - so we can eat the fillings, they also have water, yogurts etc.

Have fun!!!

also if you know what resturants are along the way you can check out www.calorieking.com to scope out what you can eat there etc...

When I travel I pack sugar free raisens and peanuts, apple slices and peanut butter, and make some sandwiches... plus all the things others have said (my parents live in Indiana- so 10 to 12 hour drive) but also pack water flavor packs and juice... and sugar free hard candy... my mouth gets super dry and gross for some reason lol...

Have fun at the wedding...

I just had a glorious two weeks in Israel - although your trip willbe much different - Ihad the same questions - I carried with me an insulated backpack - you will probably not need one - in it I always had one serving of my protein powder - there was always a place to get milk or water - I also always had a protein bar or two, sugar free mints, one ounce of cashews and a peice of fruit.  I would have loved tohave had cheese sticks - they are a great souce of protein and easy to carry and also maybe some potions of nuts of some sort.

Hae a great trip and congratulations on your sons wedding! :)  Have fun and DANCE DANCE DANCE!!!!

I do plan to take protein power, pre measured in ziploc bags. That is my standard breakfast, and with that I am reasonable sure I can hit the target on protein each day.

And the music at the wedding will be the BEST!

I read someone wrote here once that MCd's will sell you just the grilled chicken breast from the salads- so if you want something hot and fresh you could do that.  Otherwise I would do nuts, meats rolls, cheese sticks, etc.  I have already made and packed my own salad and eaten it in the car.
