Liver enzyme count high
Hi all,
I had lab work done and my PCP said my Liver enzymes count was elevated. I know they were before surgery due to diabetes medicine but it has been 8 months and I have not taken anything for diabetes this whole time. Any one have any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else? My PCP is contacting my surgeon but I am getting a little nervous. I would have thought if the diabetes medications were causing it before that it would have gone away.
Thanks for any input

There are several types of meds that can affect your liver. So maybe it's a different medication.
Don't be nervous, there are MANY reasons it can be elevated. I am sure they will figure it out. Be patient and ask many questions so you are aware of whats going on.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Hi
I have had elevated liver enzymes for about 8 months and finally they went back to normal. I did have a liver scan - all looked OK. I went off my cholesterol meds but that didn't help either. My primary and my RNY surgeon were not overly concerned but we are all happy that they are back to normal. I hope it stays that way.
I have read that this has happened to others after bypass. Be patient and hopefully yours will get back to normal, too.
