OT - Surprising news, good news, bad news
Well just got home from the dentist.
They called about 9:30am and asked if we could come in at 11:30 as opposed to 12:15 - they had a cancellation and could get "more done" if we did. OK! Surprise!
Dropped off medicated hubby went out to lunch and to continue my nap in my car, lol. We thought they were gonna just do some more fillings.
Get back to find out they did a full root canal and some other more intense work. (that would be the surprising news part two...didn't expect that to happen today)
Good news: Hubby's most asthetically displeasing feature (his upper left side of his mouth) is now completely fixed, given him a totally "normal" upper smile appearance!
Bad news: Even though he's admittedly still numb they had one hell of a time getting him numb due to the extensive area they needed. He's admitting to pain now...even with numbing. So I don't think tonight will be all that fun for him (and then as crap rolls down hill, me either, lol) Not to mention the shock of the cost when we thought it was just fillings. Root canals, my friends, are not cheap, even with insurance, plus we maxed out our insurance at the office today so some of the visit wasn't even COVERED by insurance. Ouch. And now the oral surgery on the 2nd will be completely out of pocket....blech
And...bad news part two....I won't be planning on the Barix meeting tonight in case hubby needs some creative nurse medicating...we've got plenty of stuff to keep him comfortable....just a matter of how and when to give it to him for the best possible pain control
All in all a good day....hubby's bummed about the price...this is the first time he's heard the prices....I've known all along but hadn't included him in those coversations because I knew he would react this way....my feelings on it is health is more important that spending money...and we'll be fine no matter what. He just freaks at dollar signs period.
Have a great meeting tonight!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

I know what you mean about keeping the price part away from him. Johnny is the same way. If he's known all the info from the beginning, he probably would have let his teeth go, and not taken care of it.
Glad things are getting fixed. He will feel so much better once all this is done. Bummer about the bill, but hell........you can't get away with anything these days without some sort of bill. So I just shrug my shoulders and say, "add it to the pile!" LOL.
Hope the evening goes well for both of you!

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Wow - that's a lot for one appointment poor Brian. I hope he is feeling better and on the road to recovery. He has a great nurse and person to help him through it all.

You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!

well I bet when this is all over... all the teeth stuff... he will feel so much better... a friend of mine that horrible teeth just got done doing all the work to fix stuff... well about 5 months ago... he couldn't believe how much better he felt on the inside... like digestive health wise... he lost 10 pounds without even trying (and he didn't really need to loose)... so tell him to think about how he will be feeling in a few months... hehehe...
