OT - my nursey friends - I have a question
OK I know there are a few nurses out there - and MOM's! I have a question. I have this itchy rash - they are dots about the size of the head of those colored ball pins. (think 1/2 a peppercorn). They are fluid filled and ITCHY!!! On monday I had a few on my left hand - now there are a few on my right side - on the side of my chest. There are a few on my belly, a few on my back and I think a few in my hair line along the back - oh and one under my neck.
Any ideas?? I thought that they were just bug bites until I realized that they had fluid in them and pop when I itch them and did I mention OMG they itch!? I was outside a lot over the weekend. I didn't have contact with any poison. I did get some sun but not a lot and I don't think that more would appear after the fact.
I am going to take 2 benadryl and go to bed. If it gets worse I will call the Dr but I thought that I would get your opinions too
Thanks all!
Liz
PS - I know it's gross!

I get these all the time when I've been outside and it's hot - it's almost like a heat rash but it looks like little pimples. I didn't start getting them until about 3 years ago when we moved to PA, but now I get them all time time during the summer. I talked to my GP about it once and they said it was an allergic reaction to the heat, sun and possibly the grass.
Of course - if you're worried, a doc could confirm if we're talking about the same thing. Benadryl will hopefully help, I also apply a Cortizone itch cream when they get really bad and that seems to help.
Sorry you're suffering too!

It could be just about anything...and I have been known to get poison ivy without touching the palnt itself. Since you are pregnant, you would discuss it with your doctor, because I am not sure about Benadryl, or anything else.
Be good to yourself. You deserve it.

Oh Liz,
I am so sorry. I forgot about your miscarriage, and apologize for being so insensitive. Please forgive me.
Glad you are calling the doctor.
Thanks. I do miss those Munchkins a bunch.

I know you said you haven't been in touch with anything poisonous...but if you are "susceptible" to things like poison ivy and stuff like that...I'm willing to bet it is poison ivy or poison oak. You can get it just by being in touch with something that had contact with the plant earlier....
It can also be the heat rash type thing as earlier discussed...but the fluid filled thing has me second guessing that one.
Benadryl by mouth will probably help the itching...and you may need something like a benadryl cream as well. And if push comes to shove, perhaps a steroidal cream/injection/or by mouth might be in order as well.
Feel better!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Thanks ladies!!
I don't get poison ivy, that was my first thought. The heat was the second but I usually get hives from that not fluid filled thingies. I think I'll call the Dr today. benadryl didn't seem to help - other then letting me get some sleep. I've been using the topical creams too and they do give temporary relief.
Going to goole poison oak to see what it looks like! lol
Thanks again!

my sister used to break out like... she would get a bug bite and then break out in strange places all over... but it looks and sounds just like that... the more she was out in the heat the more it seemed to get fluid filled... she would have to take allergy meds and then put cold compresses on them... but she normally just popped them all scratching them lol...
