For anyone who went to Barix in Langhorne, can you tell me what to expect tomorrow at PATS?

Thanks!

It's a busy day! I won't get the order of everything quite right here, but others will help me remember.

Urinalysis
Blood draw - they are checking for everything!
EKG
Session with Respiratory Therapist and learn to do pre op breathing exercises
Session with Nutritionist to go over protein requirements, fluid requirements, sample various protein drinks, and discuss pre and post op diet
Meet with nurse to discuss pre op procedures at home
Meet with Internist to go over all results and make final recommendations about your surgery

Others - what did I miss?

All that and a chest x-ray!  I was super nervous for mine last year, but it went well.  The NUTs will give you lots of info, but don't worry about scrambling to remember it all -- it's in the Barix Bible too and they'll give you a copy.

Good luck!

Melissa,

I think the others covered pretty much everything.  The morning will go quickly---you'll be busy with all the tests and meetings.  Don't worry about anything---it will go well.

Good luck!

You will also meet w/ the insurance coordinator to discuss co pays and what not.

Be prepared to be there for a few hours.

Dr. p did NOT due an ultrasound of my gallbladder - but I know some people have had it done during PATs.  You are not allowed to have anything to eat or drink prior to the blood work/and or the gallbladder study.  So, after your blood work, ask if you are gonna have an ultrasound done; and then ask if you can eat/and or drink.  you can bring stuff to have once you are cleared and/or they will have stuff they can give you.

You'll do great!

I had the ultrasound of entire abdominal area.  I suppose they were looking for gall stones.  I know at the time, having your gall bladder removed during the WLS if necessary was an option at Barix, and at the surgeon's discretion.  Good luck on your tests.  I'm sure you'll do fine.
