A Surgery Question

Hello all:

Gene and I were talking tonight about how long the Gastric Bypass surgery takes.

Can anyone let me know how long their surgery took? You'd think I'd remember how long Gene's surgery took but 3 1/2 years later I can't. I sort of remember it being under 2 hours, Gene thinks it was more like 4.

I'm also wondering if there is a time difference between Lap and open. We are not sure yet if I'll be having lap or open, it depends on what the surgeons see once they take a look inside.

Thanks,
Ida

Mine Lasted I think like 2 and a half hours...It was the waiting on a room that took forever...I had my surgery at 10 in the morning I didn't have a bed until 11pm..only bad thing about Hershey

I know Dr. Boe was aiming for 90 mins with me but ran into a ton of scar tissue from my c-section and it took over 2 hours... under 3 but over 2...

90 minutes is the goal like Shannon said - I was about 1 hr 45 minutes for a lap RNY. You are then in recovery for a while longer before they let your family see you and put you in a room. So you could have been away from him about 4 hours by the time it was all said and done.

It will go fast for you! lol

The actual procedure is about 90 mins give or take I believe.   But the whole day was pretty long...

@ the hospital 10am
11am Back into the OR holding area w/ iv starts and all that jazz for about an hour
I'm guesstimating 90 mins under.....but not toally sure
About 1hr plus?? in recovery

Was in my room about 1:30pm

Hubby didn't see me from when they took me back at 11am till I got up to my actual room - no visitors in recovery and Dr. P didn't come out to talk to him till the procedure was done and I was physically in the recovery room....so he didn't get word for a few hours...and poor thing was starting to get a little concerned :)
