Feeling a bit stressed

Hi everyone,

I am feeling pretty stressed this week.  I go for my final weigh in tomorrow and then we go for the insurance approval.  I have Aetna.  My surgery date is 3 weeks from Wed and i am stressed that the insurance company is going to mess me up.

How long did it take for approval from your insurance companies?

Thanks
Geoff

Hi Geoff -

I basically had a 10 business day turn-around.  Went for my consult on March 6, asked Barix to proceed with the paperwork on March 9 and my approval letter from my insurance was dated March 18.  I have Keystone Health Plan East.

Don't let the stress get to you.

Good Luck !
Lisa

Try to relax. I know the insurance part can be the most worrisome step in the process before surgery.

My approval was within a few days, but I think I remember them telling me they can take up to 2 weeks to approve.

Hang in there.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Try to relax!  If you've fulfilled all of their requirements, it should be a pretty uneventful process getting approval.  I have Empire Blue Cross, and I was approved within 24 hours after my file was sent to their medical management.

Deep breath.  All will be well.

I remember being nervous - the waiting games suck!  And Barix wouldn't even schedule me until I had the actual insurance approval....

I believe mine took about 15 days....maybe more.  But I'm assuming that your surgeon's office and office manager of the doctors basically know how long the companies take.  Push comes to shove, as much as it would suck...would be that they post pone your surgery just for a little bit until everything gets together.

Hang in there...it's a horrible horrible waiting game, but then when you actually GET to the surgery date you think 'OMG this happened sooooo fast'
