I cried on the ice...

So yesterday was a great day!  Started the day off at the gym, for the first time in a LONG time!!
Worked out  with my husband for about an hour which was great. After that we took the kids ice skating. I have not been in well over a year and last time i went it was not a pleasant experience.
Can I just say that I love ice skating!! I did not have any problems bending down to tie my skates where last time I went, my husband had to tie them for me.
Then while I skated around I was   looking on the side of the ice, there were a couple of obese moms there watching their kids skate.....I looked at my husband and said " I am not the mom on the side lines anymore watching my kids lives go by"  and then I started to cry....tears of joy!!

I am so glad to have started this journey. The amazing changes that have come along in the last four months! Of course, they are not easy and I struggle EVERYDAY!! But I will NEVER be the mom on the sidelines again!! For that, I am thankful!!

Congrats!!!  Isn't that a great feeling?  I cry tears of joy at a lot of my NSVs too -- glad to know I'm not the only one!

Christine,

Congratulations and what a WONDERFUL realization!  I've avoided ice skating for a lot of years (LOVED it in high school), but your post makes me wonder... hmmm...   !!!  Maybe it's something to add back onto the "things to do" list!    Of course, just 'cause I've lost weight doesn't mean I've necessarily become coordinated... haha.

That's a GREAT moment AND life realization!

Here's to you not being on the side lines ever again!

Wow Christine,
That sounds like me , now.  Besides health issues, I can't wait to be able to participate in family activities the way I used to. Your post almost made me cry. I'm happy to hear you're doing so well!!  Susie

That is awesome.  Even with my weight loss, I probably would not get on the  ice... I have trouble just walking on flat ground, much less skating, though I did a lot of it as a kid.

I am right there with you on the idea of not being on the sidelines.  My son lives in Queens, and I go up to New York several times a year to visit him.  He is a very fast walker, and we do a ton of walking when I go to see him.  He always is concerned about me being able to do the amount of walking and such.  Even when I was heavy, I could do everything, just not as fast.  Now, I am almost able to keep up with him.  I would not be able to enjoy the train rides, or walking around the city with the excess weight.

I also love being able to keep up with that two year old granddaughter of mine, who can run faster than anything.
