Norm,

Congratulations on one hell of a 6 years!  I'm soooo glad that I've met you in my journey.  I love the fact that you say it as it is and that there are no "excuses" with you, which is just totally awesome!

Thank you for always being there for those of us learning from you! We can always count on you to be there with a kick in the ass, a shoulder if needed (and warranted I should add), a sarcastic wit that keeps us all in stitches, and so many other wonderful things!

Celebrate the day away!!!

Norm you are an aquired taste LOL I am glad I finally found out that the flavor when you let it linger is a good one LOL....that sounds awful.
What I mean is, I have learned to appreciate your no holds barred approach and willingness to kick us in the ass when we need it. I am exceedingly proud of you and am very happy to wish you continued success

Thank you very much for your well wishes.

I'm truly blessed to have you as friends, and I look forward to many happy healthy years in your company.

It makes me happy to know that something I have said or done resonates with someone else and helps them take a step in the right direction on their own journey. It is rewarding to me in a very special way.

There are few and far pictures of me in my pre-op days that are online, I had a huge folder of progress pics that I had hosted on a photo site long ago forgotten. No clue what ever happened to them.

But this picture of me showed up on facebook a month or so ago. This is most likely 4 years or so before my surgery,  within a few pizzas and doughnuts my highest weight of 425 lbs.

I don't buy into the concept before/after pictures, because I don't buy the concept of "after." If I'm at "after" today, then what that hell happens tomorrow? But at any rate, here's a glimpe of me as a definite "before." I guess I just wanted to share this with people who haven't seen it before.

Please don't think I'm embarassed or ashamed of the picture. I'm not. It's just not something that I feel the need to share a lot anymore. The novelty has worn off a bit, I suppose. At least in sharing these kinds of pictures and seeing peoples' jaw**** the floor. I've move on the from the "shock and awe" concept of it. It "just is" for me.

But I've never forgotten where I came from. I own that picture. That's not "my past." That's ME. But God willing and through my own efforts, I mean to never go there again.

So again, thank you all, and special thanks to my best friend and wife for kicking off this little to-do on my behalf.

(And yes, before you ask, that IS me having a beer with Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf from the Howard Stern Show)

Happy Surgiversary...a little late.

Also, you only look "big" in this pic because that guy is small.
