chewable calcium citrate
Dyanna,
After surgery, your body will not be able to absorb enough calcium from calcium carbonate, which is what most calcium products are made of. It's best to get calcium citrate to be sure you're getting what you need. Your surgeon's office may carry supplements, and they're also available online from a number of sources, in several flavors. Celebrate, Bariatric Advantage, and Building Blocks all offer tasty chewable calcium citrate. (I'm currently using Bariatric Advantage in wild cherry.) Citracal Petites are an option for you too. I haven't tried to swallow them yet, but I've heard they can be disolved in Crystal Light or water so you can drink your calcium.
Good luck!

I got mine at Vitamin Shoppe. You definitely should NOT take regular calcium. It needs the hydrochloric acid from your stomach to activate it and if you are having RNY you won't have enough HCl in your pouch to absorb the calcium carbonate in the "regular" formula.
Best of luck on your new improved life!
