First off there will be NO First Saturday Support Meeting in the month of September at Barix! Since it fall on Labor Day weekend and it is the last official weekend of summer there will be NO meeting we will resume First Saturday Meetings in October which the first Saturday falls on the 3rd!

But we will be returning on October 3 with some amazing and new additions groups! Due to request and conversations among all of the support leaders we are adding two new groups of support!

1) Support for the Supporting team in your life! It will be run by Ernie Rehr who is the spouse of our Lap Band leader Robin Rehr. This group will not have any of the WLS patients just the support people so PLEASE bring your support person out to this new group! Your spouse, boyfriend or girl friend , your life partner, your parents, close friends or even adult children. Whoever supports you in this journey bring them out to a meeting. They will be able to talk freely express fears and concerns! Ask questions! This is a good for pre-ops that have support people or people that are not supportive because of the fear of the unknown!  Also of course Post -Ops!

2) Kids Support Group which will be lead by at least one secured leader Jordon Dhoble he is the son of Shauna Dhoble he has been there through every step of his mom's surgery process and understands this surgery and what changes happen.  For young children that are going through changes with their parents having this surgery or have had surgery to help let them know they matter and are part of this change. We would like the children to be at least 5 years of age and up but PLEASE keep in mind this session is NOT a babysitting group while you attend your portion of the meeting.

So we hope to see everyone at Barix on October 3 from 12-4 with new and exciting changes!

Keep Sucessing!

That's GREAT Beth!  I know at the pilgramage there was really good feedback from the support persons support group during the break away sessions.  I'll definately let brian know about it....he might be interested in attending a few to express some of his pet peeves which he freely expresses to me (which I encourage) but is reserved about doing so during a meeting as to not offend any other post op patients.

That would be great Pam!
The idea of a support group for our supporters has been bounced around at many different support groups lately and as I recall Brian was the first to initiate the idea at our last Pilgrimage in May of 2008. It went well then with Brian leading and we know this is something that's overdue and can really help families. Along with the groups for our youngest supporters we hope to really make a difference for patients and their families.

Hope to see ya there,

Dennis

OK - that's it - I have 2 months to plan on being there and will bring my hubby along for the new support group session you're having - I thnk that's fantastic!! The one for the kids sounds great, too - dont have any of those around but I know many of us do.

Hey Lisa,

I know...I've been horrible checking in with OH.  I am going to try to be more present, as much as I used to be.  Spending too much time on Facebook, I guess.

But I'm good.  Life is good.  Started at a new company a couple of months ago.  Never would have had the confidence to do that when I was almost 400 pounds.  So that was a wow for me.  Other than that, just living life and working on trying to make good eating decisions being 22 months out.  Sometimes it's way too many carbs.  I've done really good today and haven't had any and I took a long walk downtown today to get to and from my job.  So just taking it one day at a time.

Hope you're well.  Take care.

Karen

I've seen you on facebook so I knew things were ok.  Glad to hear about the new job and the run in today without getting all out of breath and stuff!!
