carb question
Hi, everyone! I am 8 months out and am dealing with a stall. Can anyone give me advice on carb counting? I have only needed to watch fats and protein, per Dr. Pupkova's instructions, but now I am wondering if my carbs are way out of control and that may be contributing to the stall (which has lasted a month now). Anyone have any info?
Thanks!!!! Mary

Barix doesn't really give numbers on carbs unless really really pushed...so I don't have any hard core numbers to go by.
However....for MY personal deals, I try to keep carbs to only those that are natural (IE: milk products, fruits, veggies, etc) and 1-2 servings of "regular" carbs (crackers, thin crisps, etc) a day.
It would help if we knew what your carb levels were and what they were coming from to determine if you are eating "to many" not that any of us has an exact number as everyone's nutritionist/surgeon is completely different on the subject.
As far as the stall goes....do you eat basically the same foods every day? If so....try varying it up. Increase the water and exercise.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

Thanks! Looking back, my carbs have been coming mainly from the right sources - milk (a lot of milk and yogurt), some fruits and veges. The bad carbs were definitely creeping in, so I have cut them out. Unfortunately (or not???) I can tolerate everything, pasta, chips, bread.......
I have been trying to keep carbs at 50, but find it hard. Before my focus on it, I'm sure I was well above that - maybe closer to 90??? Hard to say, but I do non-fat lattes, greek yogurt, milk a good bit, so it adds up. overall, I hit my protein goal of 70 and keep fats at 33 or less a day. usually have about 900 calories a day.
Thanks again!

Carbs aside you are at a prime time in your journey to hit your first major stall - happens to most of us at 8-9 months out, so don't panic - it won't last. Great advice given to me by Dennis and Shauna was to shake up my exercise routine a little - try something different - and change up my food - both of which worked wonders. I tend to get in a rut with both, and eventually the scale stops moving until I change things up again.
