What do you take for headaches?

Just wondering cause I have had a headache for about four days now and it is really getting old now I want rid of it. This was a common problem before surgery, but I haven't had one since my surgery. It doesn't feel like my typical migraine, or like sinus either, although it is behind both my eyes. Anyhow I know not to take Ibuprophen, so I was wondering is Tylennol ok or Aleeve? Thanks everyone. Tylenol because that is the only thing that we are allowed to take for pain. Aleeve is NSAIDS so you should not be taking it same as Ibuprofen.

I take Tylenol for most pain and headaches...I take my Imitrex for migraines on the occasions I need them.

Hope that helps!

Yes, Tylenol is fine.

I had one of those type sounding headaches awhile back and nothing I took solved it...except for when I finally took tylenol and benadryl (which, by the way, is the same exact thing as taking two tylenol PM because that's all tylenol PM is...tylenol combined with benadryl) and it disapated.

I will admit to taking NSAIDS on occassion for things like cramps.  I know we are not supposed to - but taking tylenol for my cramps is like taking two tic tacs. I take them with pepcid, continue pepcid for 24 hours and take them with food.  I'm not suggesting anyone do this....just being honest.  And with your specific history of ulcers...I seriously wouldn't take any NSAIDS

Examples of NSAIDS

Naproxen (Aleve)
Naprosyn (prescription strength naproxen)
Advil (ibuprofin, motrin)
Aspirin
Excedrin (contains aspirin)
Toradol (prescription strength non narcotic pain reliever which happens to be NSAID)

Oh - and as an aside...we also can't take pepto bismol...contains aspirin which I did not know until surgery....

NSAIDS are just as bad as a 4 letter word where I work. They can wreak havoc on your kidneys for those people in your life that take Aleve or Advil daily for misc pain. (Thier commercials drive me nuts!)

But (shhhh.....I also take aleve for cramps.) Tylenol does absolutely nothing. And it's only on occasion. Also just being honest.

And.........I did not know about Pepto. Hmmm, that's my "Nausea, Heatburn, Indigestion, Upset Stomach, Diarrhea" medicine! Yikes. Thankfully, I rarely take it. But will have to keep that in mind from now on. Never gave it a thought since it's something I rarely need.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I take tylenol and Mucinex D for this type of headache, which in my case is sinus related (behind the eyes).
For migraines, I take Imitrex and tylenol.
Both have been approved by my surgeon.
Thanks,
Eileen
