I made an appointment....
to have an evaluation with a psychologist next month. My eating is really out of control and it's 100% stress related. The 5DPT was not the cure all I thought it might be, but it did really help me to see that I truly do not have control over my appetite like I had hoped gastic bypass surgery would have given me. I mean it did for the first 9 months, but now I'm really back to my same old same old. I have discovered I can eat slider foods in bulk and even when I feel "queasy" after eating too much carbs, sugar or fat, it truly has not detered me.
My breaking point was when I woke up last night at 2am and coulnd't sleep I went downstairs opened the fridge and ate 4-5 forkfuls of macaroni salad. Now, in the past it would have been way way more food, but I know this bad habit will ramp up eventually.
The bottom line is I'm streesed beyond belief. There are issues in my relationship, at work and finances that I have absolutley no coping mechanisms for dealing with, other than eating. I REFUSE to be a fat girl ever again, REFUSE. But this is scaring the $h!+ out of me.
So I was checking my insurance and one of the in-network providers that came up is Introspect of BuxMont Dr. Frank Sergi and Dr. Phillip Pappas. both of these gentlemen specialize in pre/post op bariatric patients. They also run a biofeedback/nutrition course.
Anyone ever hear of them? Work with them? etc.

Wow Mel. You are doing what I have been saying I am going to do for about 4 years now. Good for you for taking that step in the right direction.
I don't know those gentlemen.....but sounds great to me that they specifically work with bariatric patients. I don't think I have anyone like that in my area.
Good luck.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Hey Mel,
At least you are making the step in the right direction. My crazy Dr also specializes in WLS and she is a registered dietitian. I love her but haven't seen her since April. I need to see her. I've been eating out of stress and mostly boredom. Sitting home recovering is so lonely. Plus, my teenager is back in the house and she is a pain in my ass. If I wake up at night I come down and eat thinking it will make me sleep again. Plus I feel like I need to eat something "bad" just to fall asleep. I still have to sleep on back because of my hip and I am so not a back sleeper. It's hard. I agree that is was so much easier the first 9 months. Good luck and now I have to make an appt of see my crazy dr...lol. Hang in there

Trace and Mel, you are correct in that the food is making you sleep but that is because you are spiking a high blood sugar and then quickly crashing because of your RNY. The food hits the small intestine, spikes the sugar, the pancreas and liver react by spilling insulin to counteract it, you crash/fall asleep. Yes it creates the sleep you want but it also creates a bad cycle and harms the liver if done alot and over time, let's you build up your carb tolerance. Try a Dannon lite n fit or something with 5grams or less sugar, enough to help you sleep, not enough to feed the carb monster. That might be a better alternative.
