Keys to Success
So I have not posted very much but am trying to get more active. (especially since I'm only a month till my Surgery). I'd like to compile some advice. Can you guys answer this question for me?
If you could only pick one item that was a key to your success (not including the surgery. LOL), what would it be?
(I.e: support groups, learning to eat slow.. etc)
thanks all.
I would have to say that planning my day was key for me. I would buy those little Glad 1/2 cup bowls and put whatever I ate in it. That way I knew I wasn't eating too much. I would pack my breakfast and lunch in it then when it came time for dinner I always put it in the 1/2 cup bowel instead of a plate. I reached my goal in 9 months. If I could do that now then I know I would NEVER over eat. Maybe I should buy some 1 cup bowls....lol.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Gee? One thing?
Planning my meals is ESSENTIAL for me. that includes packing them up ahead of time in little containers. If they are not in grab and go containers I don't eat it.
This board for information, support, and a kick in the ass.
Sorry - it's two but it's the two that is MOST important for me and probably I couldn't have done without!

For me I`ve learned the key to me being successful is to not take myself too seriously. Trying to be perfect is way too stressful and just plants the seeds to failure. I understand that I`m not perfect and I will screw up and when I do I forgive myself and immediately put it behind me and move on.
I can`t change yesterday, it`s over but I can live for the moment.

I agree with what's been said about planning. I was never, EVER a planner before, but I sure am now. Like Tracy said, get those little Glad containers -- they are invaluable! Whenever I leave the house, I have a little cooler with me with some things I know I can eat packed in those containers, with a frozen bottle of water to keep it all cold (that idea came from Nan -- then when it melts you can drink the water). I also know which stores I can stop by quickly (Wawa, 7-11, CVS, etc) to get a protein fix if I'm stuck away from home because, to me, there's no excuse for eating fast food because it's the "only thing" you can find. Covert trips through the drive-thru got me to where I was, and I can't let myself go back there.
Other than the food, the other major thing I plan is exercise. I'll admit I was not a fan at first, but now I love it, and I go to the gym just about every day, usually for classes such as Step and Zumba, and also to work with a trainer.
None of this happens by accident though. Planning helps!
