We were supposed to kick the habit, but I know many of us, especially the further out from surgery we get have gone back to it (me included), this information might give you some pause as to having too much of it. . .

whoa nelly. hmm.. looks like I may need to kick the habit.
I have noticed that the more coffee I drink the more likely I am to have a hypoglycemic episode.
I thought they may be related but i never realized it could be true. I also have to say that I have gained 10 lbs since becoming a regular coffee drinker last year.

Things are not looking good for the java. I wonder if it is just the caffiene of the coffee itself?

Not really sure, but I drink equal amounts of decaf to offset the caffienated, as I just get tired of water, even with the additives and have not taken the soda thing up, not to mention I just don't miss that. . .  but since the caffeine is what they talk about, I'm going to go with the fact that the caffeine somehow stimulates the appetite. . .  I'm thinking that for many people, the idea of caffeine and dessert (usually carbs) are closely associated, also thinking that since caffeine depletes our boides of nutrients, it sets off a craving. . .  just something to ponder, but I am going to back down from more than 2 cups a day.

Then how come you always see those skinny little actresses and models with a big cup of Starbucks in one hand and a smoke in the either?? LOL!! They swear by it, but then again if that's all they're having I guess that's why they're so skinny!

I have my one sugar free vanilla iced coffee a day from McDonalds and you can't get them in decaf - I'd have to go to Starbucks and they're too expensive and not as good. Once in a great while I will indulge in 2 but only because I also get tired of water after a while. I am thinking that I may go back to total decaf iced tea at home tho, after reading this, because I make my own and have started making 1/2 and 1/2, but around 8:30 I always get these nasty cravings for carbs. Hmmm. Might be something to that - back to decaf ice tea at home but I am NOT giving up my morning fix - they're just too yummy!!

Thanks, Laureen, from your caffeine addicted friend.  OMG - this article hits home because I have been having many hypoglycemic episodes, even in the middle of the night.  Now I need a plan to kick the habit.

I drink one cup of coffee a day in the morning and would sooner give up my first born then my coffee.

moderation is the key IMO.

Agreed, however, there are those among us, who have transfer addictions and caffeine is one I know a few of my dear friends on here do more than they should, so I am just passing information along. . .
