WooHoo! Tomorrow is the big day!
I can't believe it but the time has finally come!
Tomorrow is my surgery day! I have to be there at 5:30 a.m., which means leaving the house by 4:30. Surgery is at 7:30...good that it'll be done early!
Today my sister & brother-in-law are coming in to help us and be with our daughter. They're bringing their two dogs which should be a treat! One is a "little" puppy (Labradoodle) and the other is a Goldendoodle. Together with my 11 year old basset, it should be a treat!
On the agenda for this day is; changing sheets, last minute packing, last minute measuring :-), before photos, and finishing up with laundry. Trying to keep busy all week to avoid pre-surgery anxiety.
I'm really a lot more excited and happy than nervous. I know that I've put myself in the best possible shape for this (down 64? lbs now) and am really looking forward to beginning this new chapter in my life!
I've read the recent posts on "what to pack" and have a puzzlebook, mp3, magazines (good gossip-y ones), crocks for walking, pajama pants, female protection stuff (just incase), toothbrush & paste...etc. Any other "I never would have done without..." items?
Thanks to everyone for all of your continued support. I really appreciate all the recipes, advice and shoulders you all so willingly offer! What a great bunch of people! I'm happy to take my place along side you on the "Loser's Bench"!

Pat, congrats....................I would take my cell phone too...and I doubt you'll get a chance to do your puzzles.you'll want to sleep and walk and walk and walk, the more you walk the better you'll feel and it releases the gases.........you have done a wonderful job on loosing 64 lbs. wow, it took me a year to loose 25..............you should be very proud of yourself......I took clothes to come in like a sun dress this way nothing had to touch my stomach.....only underpants and the dress....and a pillow to hold onto in the car for the ride home....make sure your visiting pets don't have access to you when you arrive home,,you don't want them to jump up on you....that is another good reason for the pillow....that is what my dog wanted to do because she loves me and missed me.......................a bichonpoo...........again good luck and I will pray for you...

Thanks Lois!
I know that I probably won't use the puzzle book...but I figured it couldn't hurt to stick it in my bag...just in case.
Luckily (or unluckily ??) the visiting doggies will be gone before I return home. I will keep my pillow close by in case our dog gets too frisky. Thanks for the tip.
I don't really have a sundress...but do have a lot of really lose shorts. I thought those & a t-shirt would probably be alright??

sounds like you are well prepared. High on my list would be a small firm pillow for your belly on the ride home, mp3 player and cell phone. thats about all that I really ended up using. As for clothes, i just went with the clothes on my back (my suregery was early a.m. also)...loose jogging pants and loose tshirt..i wore those home also. I also took socks, my feet got cold in the hospital. I took a book but never even opened it. the first day i slept and was groggy on the morphine pump, the 2nd day i was tired but was too busy focusing on walking and sipping. I mainly stayed plugged into my mp3 player when i wasnt dozing in the chair.
I am glad that your sister and BIL are going to be there to help with Leslie. Before you know it you will be home and on your way to recovery. Remember, I am only a phone call away!\

Thanks so much, Belinda!
I'm sooooooooo ready for this!
Question? Was anyone else super worn down feeling the day before surgery (after a week of liquids & protein shakes)? I had several things on my "to do" list that I had to get done today. I did them, but it's been a struggle. Just feel like laying down?!?
Denise,
Thanks so much for being such a great source of information & comfort! I'm so happy that we've met! I'm looking forward to a lot of shop therapy very soon!
Hugs!
