I have him as well I think he great. When you had you operation at you one week check up did they tell you that you can have regular diet? Cause when I went that is what I got told was just wondering plus I want to see if I was not alone on here that had him

your going to love him.im 4 weeks out. i can have anything that swims or can fly.  he is very kind and very caring

I was able to eat solid foods 10 days after.  Feel free to ask questions.  Patty is great for answering questions, too.

Hi, I just saw Dr. S today for the first time, my tentative surgery for the lap band isdec 8th, I am so scared, I 'm afraid of the anesthesia, the surgery, and possible erosion.  Can you feel the band? does it ever ache? How do you know if it is eroding? Any idea why they say you shouldn't have the band implanted if you have  auto immune disease in your family histroy, my father has a rare disorder and Dr. S didn't ask so I didn't say anything I'm afraid I won't be a candidate.

That is good to know that I'm not the only one that is 10 days out that can have solid food, I love patty as well too she is great! I'm following everything that he has told me as well.

i have an appt with him tomorrow and im nervous because many ppl are telling me i really need to research my surgeon and thier background as far as complications, deaths, board certifed and he is not a member of the american medical association, any thoughts or comments?

I had Dr. Sawyna and think he is great!!!!!

He has done 1000's of surgeries as either the primary or asst surgeon.  He has no deaths.  I, personally, have had NO complications.  

He is direct and will give you no BS.  He will answer any questions you have and make sure you know everything you need to know about your options before you jump into anything.    Patty, his very overworked office manager/receptionist/right hand girl knows everything there is to know about the insurance process, vitamins, specialists you need to see, and can even answer some questions about issues that may arise.  

I am here to answer any questions you have, as well.  I LOVE DR. S!!!!! Dr. S and my RNY changed my life forever!

I met him today and I think he is really nice and took his time with me.  Now I am faced with a decision as to whether or not to have the lap band, bypass, or nothing at all. I afraid of both,  more afraid of thebypass, but I just can't stand being hungry anymore.  I ate dinner 2 hours ago and I  could eat another meal, so frustrating. I am at rock bottom. Do you know anyone who has had the lap band?  I do and she is doing really well with no complications. But I am afraid of the erosion complication and having to have another major surgery.  My best friend had bypass last year in north carolina, she lost so much weight and looks great but she had to have her gall bladder removed, has a hernia, iron deficiency, losing hair, and has an ulcer. SO confusing lol its nice to know theres someone to talk to thanks.....I do have a question that I am afraid to ask Dr.  S, the lap band states in their website and brochures that anyone with a family history of auto immune disorders should not have lap band done. My father has a rare auto immune disease and I wanna know why its contraindicated, I'm afraid if I say something I won't be eligible for the surgery? what do you think?
