Water Retention? Anyone?

About two months ago I noticed my left foot was swollen so I was at my orthopedic's and was given an injection and the swelling went down and here I am again dealing with it.  I went to my PCP and he did an EKG and that came back normal and did bloodwork and I am waiting for the results so he put me on a water pill and needless to say I am beating a path to the potty.  Anyone else out there who has this issue?

It happens to me only when I have over done it on the salt for the day.  I don't add a whole lot of salt to my food in general, so I guess when I have a bit more, it really affects me.  I had some popcorn at the movies the other week and my feet and ankles swelled up like balloons for about 24 hours afterward.  Fresh lemon in my water washes everything right out of me though....it makes me pee every 10 minutes.

i retain water all the time, regardless of my salt intake.  i also have prescribed water pills, which i could take everyday if i wanted to, but i only use them when i feel it's really necessary because they can deplete your electrolytes.  i don't know why i have this retention problem.  i  have had tests and everything is fine, but i just retain.  always have, even before surgery.  i get so frustrated because part of a healthy diet is 64oz of water per day.  if i drank that, i'd pee 2 or 3 times and retain the rest.  i'd feel like a bloated stuffed pig by the end of the day.

I was on HCTZ before surgery, to help with my Blood Pressure. I worked 3rd shift, and geesh, all night I was running to the toilet. I peed constantly.

I get swollen ankles all the time now, and plan on checking with my PCP at my next visit about it. I don't know if he will prescribe it again or not. I know alot of out kidney patients retain fluid and we prescribe it to them. But my retention is NO where near as much as thiers.

You should notice a difference with the meds. But it is a pain to pee constantly. It's like being 8 months preggo all over again! LOL

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
