Hey everyone,

The whole talk abou****er, last night, and the fact that the dietician specifically mentioned that the 64oz are non-caffeinated got me thinking....  *IF* I do drink coffee (and I do in the morning) how much 'extra' water/liquid should I consume to compensate for the caffeine??  Say 1-8oz cup of coffee.

Anyone know?  Should I just call the dietician??

for every 8oz of caffinated beverage you need to compensate with 16oz of water (non-caffinated). That's what I have always been told!

Liz

PS -  I can tell in 2 sips if something has caffeine  I can literally feel it sucking the moisture out of me! Some days I wish I could handle it!

I have been told that you must match it with equal de-caf beverages over and above your 64 oz to rehydrate yourself.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Wow, I don't think I was EVER told or aware of this. I seriously drink huge amounts of coffee each day. And there is no way I drink enough water to equal it or double it. I may be "offically" dehydrated constantly.

Huh, learned something new today.

Dr. P had always told me that I need 64 ounces of decaf fluid.  Then, if I have let's say 8 ounces of caffenated something or other, I need to get the same amount of decaf fluid on top of the 64.  So....

64 ounces of decaf fluid
8 ounces of caffeine
8 ounces of decaf fluid (so that's a total of 72 ounces of decaf fluid)

My gosh, I already spend my days tending to other people's urine........if I drank that much water to compensate for caffeine, I would be peeing ALL day. Wow.......did not know this.

Jo, the incentive here is that it takes alot of time in your day to drink all tha****er, time that you aren't spent grazing, AND caffeinated beverages make you retain water (and slow weight loss) so if you do a little switcheroo you'll probably being eating less, peeing more and losing more of that baby weight you're still working on.   However, don't get rid of it altogether.  Like on the 5day pouch test, if you are used to caffeine, you need to come off slow, not cold turkey; you'll rebound.   Go for it girlfriend....here's to light and fluffy

You are right. And the weight has been SLOW coming off. And that justmay be part of the problem. I have decided to have my ONE coffee per day in the morning. Right now I am drinking about 3-4 XL cups of Sheetz coffee. I am going to only drink ONE meduim each morning. I need to break that habit and if it helps with the weight loss.....so be it!

Like Jo I am a coffee drinker. My Dr. has never mentioned anything about drinking more decaff beverages based on my coffee intake. Definintely something I shall ask about on my next visit.

Thanks for the information.

P.S.  Caffeine stimulates the appetite, another reason why it good to minimize it if you drink it heavily.....
