For most part I do nto regret the RNY surgery and I am doing well.  I could have never 2 years ago been able to do what I do now.  However at six months out I weighed in at 252 fluctuating back and forth between 258.  I am still 10 months later from 6 montsh out at the same weight.  I refuse to go back to my doctor until I loose at least another 50 pounds he wanted off.  I did all he said to do, exercise, stayed on a lot of liquad proteins, ate all my meals and small ones, few cheats and it all go me no where.  I am stuck and it is not budging and I am disaapointed.  He won't talk this skin removal until I loose another 50 pounds at least.  Even if I starve myself it does nto budge.  I did the 5 day pouch test twcie and did nto loose anything with it.

Has anyone had this problem and if so what did you do to cure it.  The extra skin hanging is so annoying and I want to take a knife to it so they have to rush me to hospital and do somethign with it by force.  I love the weight I did loose off but I HATE the skin, I stilld ue top the skin am in plus size clothes and do you know how embarrassing that is to shop there still when I went through all this and should not have to.

I literally am very strung out over this and want to break those 200's and I fear since it has not budge int his long it just is there to stay.

Thanks for listening

Donna

Donna - A little more info if you don't mind - what's a typical day's menu? How many oz of fluid and protein are you getting? what kind of exercise are you doing?

My gut reaction - you aren't getting enough calories!!

I wouldn't write off your surgeon - call and make an appt - tell them you want to see the nutritionist - don't suffer through this - we'll help and so would the NUT!!

I cannot stand my NUT and I just can't he layed into me too hard and will be very dissappointed in me, when I loose some moare I will definately make that appt.

I walk mostly every where and at least 2 miles at a time.  I am not much into any other kind of exercise but am swimming more now as well.

A normal day for me in eating is cereal or oatmeal or protein drink or granola bar in morning at 7 am....around 10 a snack of  ,fruit, or granoloa bar, cheese stick, yogurt,  nuts, one of them or something else....lunch around 1 , all depends on my mood, maybe PBJ, maybe tuna, maybe cheese and crackers, lunch meat sandwich, grilled cheese, barely a snack later on but if so one of the above, dinner is maybe grilled hamburger, shrimp, hot dog, grilled chicken, if lazy cheese and crackers, sausage, but mostly liveon chicken.

Now lately I do nto even follwo that as I am depressed and I just do nto even eat much at all anymore mostly drink water, ice tea and juice and somewherein there I may feed me if I feel like it.,  But that isjust recently, alot of family problems and life problems and out of work issues just causing that not that RNY

My suggestion would be to keep a food journal - for the next few days log your food and fluids. Figure out how much protein / fat / carbs you are getting in in a day. My guess - you aren't getting enough calories or protein! Try checking in to that and making adjustments and I would bet you'll start loosing again! You are at the point now where weight loss is going to be slower - but you'll get it to come off again. When you don't take in enough the body goes into "starvation" mode and holds on to what it is getting because it isn't sure when it is going to get fed again.

I checked out your profile and you ahve done a fantastic job!

Do you attend support groups or have any in your area that you can attend? I would also suggest going if you don't already. The further out we get the more we need the support of "outsiders" and others to keep us going!

Hope that this helps

Thanks Liz,, I was doing a journal I should go  back to it your right there.  As for the support group my daughter had lap band doen at same tiem I had RNY and we were going faithfully until her college classes interfered in the night it was on, I do not drive in to Phill myself unfortunately for it.  I should find one locally I think Crozer has one but I hate to go alone, I am just so not an alone person.

But thanks for the support.

I'm not sure exactly where you are but some of the ladies here have one at Phoenixville hospital. There is also one at Brinton Lakes.

You CAN do this!

Hi - Have you had your thyroid checked?  Hypothroidism can really mess with weight.
