I had no tubes, no cath and no drains, Had no stitches either, just super glue. The day of surgery was a little rough. Next day was pretty good and I went home. I`m very fortunate to have an extreme pain tolerance.Sometimes I feel guilty cause it was really pretty easy.

I didn't have a drain or an NG tube either.  I did have a catheter but that was only in overnight and removed first thing the next morning.  I wasn't allowed anything to drin****il I went for the swallowing test and passed it to be sure there was no leak.  That first night, I was too sleepy to even want anything to drink.

Hi all,

I saw the doctor yesterday and thank goodness they don't use that NG tube.  There is a tube during surgery but you are under, but it is out before you get up.  He doesn't use a drain, but said I will have a cathedor until the next morning.

The other thing he said is until they do the xray for leakage the next morning, I will only have a sponge swab if I am thirsty after surgery.

Unlike a lot of the comments, it sounds like they won't have me up and walking until the next day after the xray, I don't know why that is.

On another good note, I have a hiadel hernia and he said that he will fix that as well.

All good stuff.

Thanks to everyone for all of your support and input.
