When can we start eating cheese sticks?

I was curious when we can start eating cheese sticks? I like them and I am still on pureed foods and I would like to have them. I am kinda getting sick of the same old cottage cheese yogurt ground up turkey with ricotta cheese and bananas. I have not yet tried any veggies..except I did have wendy's chili once. Ooh and I do like french toast sticks but they do not have a lot of protein in them. I would love to eat shrimp right now..but that is not part of the plan yet is it?

Cheese sticks come with regular food I believe.

Shrimp you can puree!!

I would watch the frenchtoast sticks - too many carbs this early out - you should really be avoiding bread.

These stages suck but they will be a distant memory before you know it! AND they are a necessary part of healing and re-training your brain!

Ground turkey with fat free gravy  (from grovery store)was one of my favorites at this stage.    Fat free cream of mushroom was also good to mix with the meats.

Liz is right.... this stage will be over before you know it.

Cheese sticks would not be until you are on reg food.
I am not preaching but I would avoid breads and carbs right now
you have so little room it needs to be focused on proteins.
there is no nutritional need for french toast sticks....dont stoke the carb monster,, you will regret it

You can puree the shrimp and make a shrimp salad thing out of it

Veggies won't be until regular food either....well I guess cooked you can have them on soft food stage...but again, your focus will be on protein not the other stuff...although once on regular dr. p will want you adding in fruits and veggies when possible.

And I also agree with the others about the french toast thing.  No need for carbs or potential sugar this early out.

OH and what about pureeing up some home made meatballs or burgers?  That's allowed.

So is pureeing chicken soup (take the noodles out) or any other protein source for that matter.

I'm guessing my food plan is diff from yours because this was mine
Day 2 -2 weeks Full Liquids & Pureed (runny)
2 weeks - 4 weeks Start adding soft foods
6-8 weeks can start adding regular foods.

The first time I had a cheese stick (mostly mozarella) was when I drove 1 1/2 hours to my three week post-op follow-up appointment.  I let the cheese get to room temp and nibbled.  I chewed the hell out of it until it was mush.  I love them now but... don't eat them too often because they can cause some MEAN constipation and that really sucks.  When in doubt, review the guidelines your surgeon gave you or give them a call if you have questions.  Also go by what your pouch can handle.
