Pureed stage

Hi everyone.  I have a few questions about the puree stage.  So far, I have tried a couple of foods: Refried Beans, Cottage Cheese and Scrambled Egg.  Nothing has bothered me so far, which I suppose is a good thing.

My question is; am I supposed to be trying to get to my protein goals using only pureed food? I kind of like my morning protein shake - I make a shake that gives me 32 grams of protein per shake.  That's at least half my days requirement. Should I be trying to move away from protein shakes?  I'm not quite 3 weeks out right now.

Oh and I'm also looking for a few good pureed ideas.  If anyone has a favorite, I would love to hear it.

Thanks, Lisa

You will need to start moving away from your protein shakes...but having them at 3 weeks out shouldn't be to much of a problem.  Dr. P is not a big fan of shakes, bars, etc. once you are moving onto real food.  She will tell you that at your 6 week appointment when you are cleared for "real" food.  But, for right now, it's ok.

As far as favorites:

Ricotta cheese w/ spaghetti sauce, garlic powder, and some mozzarella cheese heated in the microwave (layered) it tastes like a noodle-less lasagna.

Ricotta cheese w/ splenda and cinnamon tastes like rice pudding

And although it looked absolutely gross...I would make up meatballs in brown gravy (home made so I knew what was in the meatballs) and would puree that up.

Hamburger meat pureed w/ some beef broth was decent too.

I really liked chilli pureed (again - home made.  Be careful with tomato sauce etc they can have LOTS of sugar in them)

I did eat a bunch of scrambled eggs on the stage - I prefered mine w/ melted cheese in them.

Take it easy and slow!

Pam
