I Walk Funny??
OK, now I"m starting to get a complex - my husband made a comment the other night, then my mother made one, and now a co-worker just made one. They have all asked if my knee (or knees) are bothering me but they're not - oh they do at times, but not when I'm walking.
I do know my right leg is larger than my left and is not regaining its shape like my left one is, but I have had 3 surgeries on that knee - one orthoscopic and a total knee replacement and about 16 weeks after that they had to go back in and fix it because my tibular piece had broken loose and they had to replace it with a larger one. My surgeon tried going smaller to give me a better range of motion but I think the weight I was carrying at that time was just too much for it.
So I don't know if its that or all the loose skin I'm dealing with at the tops of my thighs - inner and outer. It really feels like it throws me off-balance sometimes and messages with my gait. I've also noticed when working out at Curves that I appear to be bow-legged now? My mother said I'm nuts and maybe its just that I now have actual space between my knees but it still looks funny.
I have talked to Dr Boe and my family doctor about the skin issue - I'm about 17 months out and am beginning to think I should look into having it removed? Or is it too soon? I would like to lose some more weight but haven't done much in that department lately. I'm getting measured at Curves tonight to see if I've lost more inches but I don't think there's an exercise in the world to take care of the loose skin I'm carrying.
I guess its just bothering me now that people are concerned with my walking?? And is it THAT bad??

Well considering I haven't seen you walk anywhere near recently....
Perhaps it's the skin getting in the way....and perhaps its also just a period of adjustmet for your body and what not?
As far as the space between your knees - well - there IS supposed to be space there. It might look funny to you because you've never had it before....but generally speaking it is supposed to be there.
The only other thing I could suggest is maybe get a referral from your PCP to a physical therapist and see if THEY see anything wrong with your gait? And/or a chiropractor? Both might be a little more educated on the topic.
As far as the removal of skin is concerned...no harm in looking into getting it removed. Sure, you might be looking to lose more weight but sometimes the extra skin needs to come off regardless. And if it is really a hinderance (IE walking) you could be looking at some insurance coverage. If you lose more weight the results may be skewed a little bit afterwards...but not so much to undo the whole procedure, I would think.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.
