Magee Hospital
I really think that most people from Pittsburgh go to Magee.
I'm going against the grain and going to Sewickley (surgery is TOMORROW!!)
I have a few friends who have had their surgeries at Magee and have all had great experiences. My best friends mom actually works in the office and has nothing but good things to say about peoples experiences there. She practically begged me to go there instead, but after going to seminars at a couple different hospitals, I totally loved my surgical group at Sewickley. Before that I was dead set on going to Magee because their Dr's are the best in the city (my Dr did surgeries with their group for YEARS before opening his own practice)
You are definitely in good hands there.
Good luck with everything. Keep us posted!
Oh... and you have Anita Courcoulas? You will be fine... She's awesome.

I had my surgery at Magee. Great staff and a great hospital. Don't expect nothing fabulous, but it is a nice clean hospital and they take care of you. The surgery check in and waiting room can be a little crazy depending on your surgery time, but I recommend not being late and arrive a little early. Another thing that I noticed was my time in Post-op. Seems like I was down there for a while and I can only assume that they did not have a room ready for me. The WLS patients are all on one floor and section so something tells me that they have limited space for us. Overall, I recommend it and please feel free to ask any questions.
I haven't had my surgery yet, but I am going to Magee also. I have the same doctor as you. A few of my friends who had WLS went to Magee's and had nothing bad to say about.
Yes we all associate Magee as the baby hospital, heck I gave birth there myself 15 years ago.
Good luck with your surgery, and keep us posted!
