Did I really have surgery???

Hi All - I'm two weeks out as of today.  I don't feel like I have lost a single pound.  My pants seem just as tight at the waist as they were before surgery, my bra is still a little tight, etc.

I swore off the scale until my 2 week follow up appt. tomorrow, so I haven't actually checked.

I'm getting in all my protein and liquid at this point, taking my vitamins/meds as directed and walking - so I'm doing the right things.  Why do I still feel like a stuffed turkey??

I have this fear that I am going to go see my surgeon tomorrow and I will step on the scale and I'll be the one that lost nothing since surgery and they will all stand there scratching their heads trying to figure me out.

Maybe it's all part of my poor self image.  Who knows....

Anyhow, thanks for letting me ramble.

Lisa

Lisa - it is still possible to be bloated from surgery.

I am thinking back to my 2 week checkup and I was still feeling pretty blah.

Hang in there and good luck with the appt tomorrow! Keep us posted!

Oh and you usually loose weight from the top down so I bet your face looks thinner!

Lisa, what you are feeling is completely normal.  I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised when you get on that scale.  Just remember that you had major surgery and your body is still healing.  You most likely gained weight in the hospital from all the fluids they pumped into you, but you also will have lost it within the last week.  As long as you are doing what you are supposed to do, the weight will come off!!!

Have faith in yourself and in the tool that you have given yourself! I expect a post telling us how thrilled you are with the amt you have lost!

Our minds can play terrible games with us sometimes. I'm sure you have lost some weight but the clothing tightness is probably from swelling from the surgery, so don't worry too much about that - it will definitely go away. And you are going to lose weight - everybody does. And if you're getting in all your protein already that's amazing! Most of us don't even get close until at least a month or more out. But that's a good thing so don't back off on that - the more you can get in the better you're going to feel and heal.

You're going to do fine tomorrow - its not a test - don't let that stinking scale freak you out (I always think of them as a big hairy beast that I like to avoid!!) - Dr P is going to be very pleased with how well you're doing and if you're really feeling down go out and check out the Before and After Pictures on the OH Boards - it always lifts my spirits and lets me know that yes, the surgery does work - we're all going to be successful - and don't get too freaked out by the numbers on the scale.

We're here for you and you can ramble on anytime...

Not only did you have surgery...you had the phenomenal dr. p and the barix staff working their skills on you!!!  Trust them...and your decision...and the fact that the weight WILL come off.  Everyone heals differently.  Perhaps you are still retaining from surgery....there's so many possibilities here.

I'm fairly certain I was in all my same clothes for at least a month after surgery...then I started noticing a HUGE difference "out of no where"

Lisa-
Believe me I know how you feel!  Cause I felt the same way at two weeks out...three weeks ..and four weeks....it  was hard and then all of sudden BAM! It starts becoming noticeable to you and to everyone.....

Everyone heals different and the liquid/puree/soft food stages are really hard mentally..so it could be that too...You have an amazing surgeon in Dr. P and an amazing staff at Barix to help you on your journey!!!

You are going to do great!!!  Just keep working it and you will see the results!!

Big (((HUGS)))
Much luv!!

Hi Lisa! I'm with the others---we need to be patient. We just went through major surgery and need to give ourselves time to heal. Some of my clothes are getting loose, but the waist still fits just fine. We'll get there!!!
