Plastics and Insurance
Hi Everyone,
Plastic surgery is a ways away for me, but it is never to early to start planning. I have been told that some insurances will cover some plastics...belly or boobs, which I am hoping mine does.
I have also been told to start complaining to my doctor about chaffing and the like (which I do have). Can anyone offer some insight into how to get insurance companies to pay for plastics??
Thanks so much!!

usually in some cases they will pay for breast reduction not implants.
a lot depends on your policy .
tummy must be mediacally necessary that means documented rashes for @ least 6 months, your panni must hang a certain amount & usually you have had to loose over 100 lbs and be 18 months out. they may pay for panni removal but not for muscle tightening
if you have a ways to go best bet is to start saving your money for it, it is less then the price of a new car and I put mine on a credit card with 0% interest ,
I had a full TT done along with my hysterectomy and I was a self pay with Dr. hospital & anesthesia it was 5500.00 but that was my cost because of the other procedure I think price might be about 8000.00, check aroud for your surgeons make sure he is board certified in PS

I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield Personal choice and they paid for my breast reduction.. but I paid out of pocket for my tummy tuck. The cost was reduced a bit for the TT however because they could bill quite a few necessary items to the breast reduction such as the anesthesia and the operating room and my overnight stay in the hospital. I did however have prior medical documentation stating the the size of my breasts was causing medical problems with my back etc. All of that was done prior to my gastric bypass and I'm not positive how much of a factor that was. Good luck!

I just had a breast reduction fully paid for by Keystone BC/BS based on medical nessecity. I was approved on the first request and did not need to provide more than a statement that they caused me back/neck/shoulder pain and I suffered rashes. My insurace will cover a TT however I will need to provide further documentation before they will approve it. Worst case scenario I wil pay for it out of pocket ($6K)
