Question about puree foods..
I have a question..okay I am on puree foods and I just mixed up 1/4 cup of ricotta cheese and 2 oz of ground turkey and some spag sauce..sounds yummy right..just like a lasgna but without the noodles. Okay so when I put everything together I weighed the food and it comes out to be 6oz altogether. Now I figured cuz 2oz of meat and just added some cheese and sauce that I could eat a nice high protein dinner. How much are you suppose to eat at one serving for puree foods? I understand that in my Barix Bible it gives a few sample menus and one of the samples it has for lunch like a 1/2 cup of something then a 1/4 cup of fruit and then a 1/4 cup of veggie well thats about a cup of food right there for one sitting. I thought that we were suppose to have like just a 1/2 or a 1/4 cup only of food each meal?? IDK..can anyone help me?
Dee,
Wow - that confused the heck out of me too! Basically, when I asked Dr. P and the nutritionist, I was told that I should be focusing more on the "size" of the food than the weight of the food. So it was more important that it was about 1/4 - 1/2cup than that it weighed 4 oz or 6 oz. They told me not to eat more than 1/2 c at a sitting... but usually 1/4 cup was plenty! especially that early out!
As you get more experienced with this, even though you won't be feeling "full" (in the same way that you used to), you will figure out some kind of signal that your body gives you... may be a feeling, might be a hiccup, some people have reported a sneeze, etc... and that's your "full signal" that means you should stop right there!
Hope this helps!
