Job update

I no longer have one.

I was let go today due to not being able to come back at the "agreed upon time"  Mind you, no time was ever agreed upon.  The back story to this is my fill in is a former employee who wanted back in.  I can't do the FMLA due to their only being 10 employees.  So, once I see Dr again on Tuesday I will tell him to release me (so long as today's gallbladder u/s turned out ok) and I will file to collect.  I am somewhat releived but loathe the thought of starting a new job in the future.  If I can, I want to get into DD school...and want to hold off until I can because it will be nice to interview looking normal and not as the fat girl.  A new place, no one will know I lost XX pounds before starting!!

Anyhow, Shannon request I post this here.  She was more livid than I....lol

I am so sorry to hear you were let go because you were out for surgery.  BUT, I want to encourage you to put your resume out there now, and start looking now.  I was hired for two different jobs before my surgery, and I did both at the same time post-op and people did not care what I looked like before.

Your self-esteem and your pride in yourself will overshadow any of your physical appearance, if you smile and believe in yourself that you deserve to be hired because you are the most capable and competent to do the job.

Hugs,
Trish

I'm sorry to hear that!  Definately start putting things out there now...in this market it may take a little while to find something anyway.  But at least now you can continue to recover while taking your time.

it sucks the way they did this to you, but it doesn't sound like you're mourning the loss of the job a whole lot, just the thoughts of looking for a new one. Everything happens for a reason, tho, and now you can concentrate on healing and looking for something new and wonderful!

Wishing you all the best....Kathy

Unfortunately, PA is a no fault state and you can be fired for no reason at all,,,if they want. And with working at a company so small, there isn't much you can do about it.

I was fired last June. I went into labor at 20 weeks and had a still birth. My OB told me he wanted me off for 2 weeks. My boss said he felt that was unacceptable, I was "milking" the situation, and that he was letting me go if I couldn't return in 1 week.

Well, there was no way I was physically ready to, not to mention I was an emotional wreck. I called the PA Dept of Labor because I felt it was unfair and got no help.

It sucks but hopefully this is an opportunity to find something better or go to school. I ended up with a much better job, and am beginning school next month.

Good luck to you........and sorry to hear about your situation.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
