Wii Fit
Hi All -
Well, I thought I was ready to try the Wii Fit.........maybe not.
I decided to stay inside and try it since the landscaping crews are mowing and trimming my section of the apartment complex. Outside walking would have triggered major allergy symptoms.
Anyhow, I figured I would try what I thought was the easiest. Aerobic Stepping. Well, I got thru the first 3 minute session ok and decided to try another. Bad idea......it's a lot more strenuous than it looks, Especially one week after surgery. Plus I missed a step and sort of fell off the board....haha
Maybe I'll try again later.

Stick to walking right now - give your body a chance to heal - that Wii isn't going anywhere and will be ready when you are. I thought I could come back to work a week after my surgery, and I did - dumb-dumb. I felt okay but it took me forever to regain my energy - it was just too much too soon. So take it easy on your body - walk - it will help with so many things - gas relief, exercise, weight loss, stress...and its easy on your body right now.
Take care of YOU!! :-)

Lisa,
You know what you CAN try on the Wii fit... the yoga exercises! Just the beginner ones with the stretching... you'll find that they're almost exactly like what Dr. P had you doing even in the hospital.
Once you have clearance to exercise, you'll find the Wii Fit to be a great companion, I think... yes, the aerobics are harder than they look (and the hula-hooping is also a great aerobic/balance/stretching exercise) and once you start finding them easy you can add the extension block to raise the step higher, so it can grow with you.
But as folks have said, you're only a week out - don't push yourself too hard! At that point, I was exhausted after even a relatively short walk. But doing the walk anyway was important... as was taking sufficient time afterward to recover.
Oh - and it's important to do the Wii Fit in bare feet (no socks)... that will help avoid the falling issue. If there's more than one person using it and you are skeeved out by sharing "sockless access", you can get the silicone sleeves for it so each person has a sanitary surface :-).
Enjoy!
