Good Morning all..........

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Ours was packed full and busy. But it was a great weekend. Today is work, then home to do nothing. Maybe a few chores, but that is it. It will just be Jantzen and I tonight as my other 3 kiddos are having a sleep over at Nanny's, and Johnny is working in Maryland tonight.

So me and the little guy will go for a walk and just enjoy a quiet house together.

Have a great day! Hope it's a "smiley" one for being a monday.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Good morning everyone - looks like another beautiful day out there.

I'm glad to be back at work today to get some rest - the whole weekend was a whirlwind of shopping and getting ready for hubby's family party yesterday - it went great but was very exhausting - tons of kids running around, trying to keep up after them with cleaning, etc. But for the most part they were very well behaved and I think everyone had a good time.

Not much on my agenda today or this week - going to Curves after work, then home to walk the dog and hopefully get a ride in on my bicycle - haven't had it out in about a week so I'm anxious to get on it again and take a nice long ride.

Mom had her first chemo treatment Friday - she slept all of Friday afternoon and hasn't been feeling 100% since it - last night she said her chest felt 'tight' and upped her oxygen - I told her if its not better today to call the doctor because she's prone to pnemonia and with her current health situation she can't afford that.

Oh, and a little wow for me today - I'm wearing one of my new tops from Coldwater Creek - I have always loved the clothing they sell and I can finally go in there and buy things - and it was on sale!!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning everyone -
Today has me still in "recovery" mode from surgery - meaning that I am still off from work

I'm feeling really good. I'm a little surprised.  I've used none of my pain medicine that I was sent home with from Barix.  I only used some Tylenol Jr. the first couple of days home.  Haven't used any since Saturday !

My boyfriends Mom is stopping by for a visit this afternoon - it will be nice to see her.

I'm also contemplating whether or not I will try to go back to for work for a half day on Wednesday.  My boyfriend says "no way" - stay out all week.   I'll keep thinking about it.

Have a super day everyone !
Lisa

Lisa, if you have the time, take it.  Don't push yourself to go back to work too soon.  We have short term disability at my job and I took full advantage to make sure I was 100% when I went back.  I was out for about a month.  Best thing I could have done!

Good morning all,
I don't normally chime in on the daily roll call, but I know there are some of you out there that have said a prayer for mom and I wanted to ask you to continue to do so.  It may be helping.  Either that or the stubborn lady will never refuse to quit fighting.  No, she's not ready to run the July 4th 5K with me on Saturday, but I now see where I get my "never say die" attitude.

Went up to visit yesterday and, although her oxygen isn't at (probably never will be) an acceptable level, it's improving.  She even went so far as to go on a morphine-enduced mini tirade on the hospital's discharge coordinator.  The coordinator's job is to basically make sure family knows what to do at time of discharge, as far as contacting rehab facilities, etc...  Good ol' mom told the lady, "i'm going home, I ain't going to no damn rehab" - or something along those lines.  It was hilarious because, as I said, it was after getting a nice dosage of morphine.  Remember, she's in their because she had hip surgery and has a huge rod and screws in her hip. Although she seems to be progressing - ever so slowly - her mental state is worrying us a little.  She's forgetting things left and right, doesn't understand what we say to her most of the time (we often have to repeat things 2-3 times) and just comes up with off the wall comments that have nothing to do with the conversation at hand.  Personally, I couldn't care less.  It's just nice to have a mom to still talk to.

As for my day today, I'll be heading up to the hospital in a bit and spending some time with her.  Later on I have little league all-star practice (I'm the coach, my son Corey is on the team) and somewhere in between I have to fit in a 3 mile run as my annual 5K in Downingtown is this Saturday.  Thanks for letting me share my update about mom and thanks again for the prayers.  They seem to be working.  Then again, you can never go wrong when you go with God.

Andy, I'm so glad to hear your mom is doing better!!!  Sounds like she's truly a fighter!!!  As far as her mental state, be patient with her.  She's just had major trauma to her body with the broken hip and surgery, and the meds can really do funny things to one's mental state, especially older folks.  You can always talk to her docs about it if you're concerned.   Enjoy your day with your mom!!!!     Julia

Hi Andy - nah, the prayers never stop - fortunately that is one thing we have an endless supply of!

The anesthesia from her hip surgery and the morphine are going to affect her memory big time, and probably for quite a while. So be patient with her because she's going to get very frustrated because she forgets things. But she sounds pretty fiesty for all she's gone thru and that's a good thing - will keep her fighting to keep going on.

I've gotten to the point where I write a lot of things down for my mom now because even from the small dose of anesthesia she had for her biopsy it has affected her memory, and now the chemo will affect it even more. I write her appointments on a big sheet of paper and tack it on the fridge because she was constantly questioning me about them - just makes life easier for all of us - LOL!!

Take care - hang in there with mom - good luck on your run Saturday!

Kathy

Good morning all!  Today is my first Monday morning of Summer vacation! :)  And what a busy Monday it is going to be!

I am taking Molly to a Big Sisters/Big Brothers Appointment at 10.  Her therapist recommended this and Molly was very excited about it!  So that is downtown.  Fortunately, after rush hour traffic!  I then have my 3 month check-up with Dr, Pupkova!  Can't wait!!!!!  My PCP never sent my blood work - sonow I am JUST a little annoyed with them!

Then tonight I have an appointment with Molly and her therapist - her last appointment for the summer - I am a little anxious about all this! Once back, we need to get the car packed with all my son's camp CRAP as I like to call it as we are shipping him off in the morning - :)   This is his 6th year - so I am NOT teary - but more excited for him and his experiences! :)

That is all - Hubby is hovering - he is waiting to use the computer and I am taking up his time! :)

Have a great day all! :)
