I am have a real issue with vomiting it is happening a few times a week.
I am trying to slow down and not eat to much.

After vomiting, is there any good things to do to calm the tummy?
I had a popcicle and that helped a little.

Should I try and eat an hour later?

any suggestions are great.

Thanks!

I found that after vomiting, I needed to let my pouch "rest" for the rest of that day, and sometimes the next day too, so I would just stick with liquids until Seymour (my pouch's name) was feeling better.  Be very careful, and be very gentle with your pouch and with yourself.

Can you avoid the things that are making you vomit?  I had issues when I was 6 weeks out with steamed vegetables (big mistake) and apple peel (the rest of the apple was fine, however), but it wasn't a constant thing.

Hope you feel better soon.

Leslie,  I love that fact that you have a name for your pouch.  I think that is sooooo prescious.  Out of curiosity, did all of you have the bypass versus the lapband?

Thanks.

Geoff, I had the RNY gastric bypass.  I didn't feel that the lapband was the right choice for me, given how much weight I had to lose at the beginning.

I named the pouch Seymour because when I was still doing research on the surgery, all the talk of food and feedings, etc for some reason made me think of "Little Shop of Horrors" and the big plant who yells "Feed me, Seymour!"  I decided I would name my pouch Seymour, and now if I feel a little rumbling or something, I yell "Feed me, Seymour!"  Yeah, it's a little silly, I'll admit.

EXACTLY!  I sing that song to myself (because my life is one big musical, in my head at least).  And Seymour is my friend!

Oh Sweetie,
I feel for you! Amen I had those issues too early out. Use a baby spoon to eat smaller portions and then use an egg timer to finish your meals. Sometime I would eat one bite do dishes or other things around the house and then eat another bite. It literally took me hours to eat in the beginning as far as what calms your irritated pouch. I was just doing clear liquids as the thought of food made me throw up even more. I should clarify that when I throw up I spasm involuntarily and literally cannot stop unless somebody hands me a glass of water to stop the spasms. Take it easy and post often and don't worry about getting all your foods in early out.

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

I was a big time puker for the first 6 months - seriously almost on a daily basis. For me the puking was becasue I ate too fast and once I puked I would eat again (because I was hungry) but I would eat slower.

10 months later I only barf if something gets stuck and that is very infrequently (thank god)

Dont mistake vomitting for dumping - 2 different things. For me when I have "dumped" (and it's only been minor dumping becasue I've had too much "Fat" in a seving or sugar that i didnt realize was in something I ate/drank) I get rapid heart beat, bad head aches and feel very flushed and I have to get into bed and "sleep it off"
