Gaggin...why?
I was wondering I am 6 days post-op and well last night while I was sleeping I kept walking up in the middle of the night gaggin...and it hurt. Now this morning I get up out of bed and I am walking around and all of a sudden I gag and it hurt....has anyone else had this happen to them? Everytime I think of drinking that shake, just thinking of it...I want to puke! I drink slowly on my water and the smells of things around me make me want to puke! What is wrong with me?
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with nausea. Unfortunately it isn't uncommon. My surgeon had me take OTC Prilosec for the first six weeks which really helped.
It isn't uncommon for our tastes to change immediately after surgery and things we could do pre-op turn into absolute no-no's afterwards! Try a different style of protein shake. I tried different samples of various protein powders that I got at bariatriceating.com. There are other sites which have samples available, too. The Syntrax Nectar varieties are made with water and are nice for changes.
You might want to talk to your surgeon before doing the Prilosec, but it might be just what you need.
Good luck!

Potentially nothing is wrong with you - your body is still healing and that takes time. How it heals will take different shapes for each of us. Just do your best to get all your fluids in and as much protein as you can. That being said, I would check in with your surgeon in case there is something they need to assess/evaluate - or at least log in your chart.

Sorry you're having such a rough time Denise. I didn't have the gagging, but the smell thing I can relate to. For some reason, the smell of some things just makes me want to hurl. You know that Purell hand sanitizer. OY! I could vomit just thinking about it. And one of my proteins, Unjury, is the same. I have to hold my nose when I drink it and then rinse my mouth.
