Great idea GD_007. I agree -- family, friends, and better health are great motivators.
This is going to sound very girlie, but nicely fitting stylish clothes are a real benefit of the surgery and exercise. However, I'd say exercise -- working up my elliptical exercise to full running is just incredibly fun and liberating -- and the key motivator. (Just thinking about it makes we want to throw on my exercise clothes and get out there right now). I feel like I'm in my early 20s again when I was a serious runner -- about 20 miles a week. I'm not back to that, but I am making good progress.

hmmmm what motivates me..
knowing that I am adding years to my life
the positive role model that I am becoming for my daughter
ROCCO PAIN!!!
all the newfound energy I have
audiobooks to listen to while I am walking and working out.. just one more chapter..
ALL OF YOU!!! I know that I would not be as motivated and successful if it wasn't for all of you people keeping me accountable.

Good post.
What motivates me????
hmmm......
1) A persistent desire to find acceptance from someone, something, ...myself.
2) Fear of failing
3) Never feeling like anything less than my best will be good enough
4) Competing with my biggest opponent...myself
5) The "What-If's"
6) Knowing that I can...because I always do
7) The future
8) Preparation of what's yet to come
9) The effing scale
and above all....
10) My newphew

Several things motivate me--
I am my biggest fan ( I blame my parents for this...LOL) and every morning I look in the mirror and remind myself that I am worth all the hardwork.
I lost my older brother about 12 years ago (killed in a car accident) and before he died he lost about 125 pounds by walking everywhere and lifting weights--- knowing that he's watching and seeing that I am serious about losing the weight too
The song "Just Fine" by Mary J. Blige always keeps me upbeat because there's a line that goes something like "'cause I like what I see when I'm looking at me when I'm walking pass the mirror"
There are other things, but thought I would stop at my top 3.
