When did people start saying things to you??

I have lost 32 pounds!!  And clearly, I am still FAT but not "as fat"  and my clothes are falling off.  ONE person (outside of my home) has made a remark.  People know what a hard time I am having...how hard I am working too.  Do they not GET that some encouragement is GOOD for us?  I just put a big note on my Facebook about it so the people who do see me know it is OK to say something and the people who know surgery patients in their lives know they should say something.  When I have not seen someone since before surgery I would think they would!!  Am I delusional??

JUST THIS WEEK!  Seriously....I went on vacation with a girlfriend for a week, and since I've been back, that's all I've heard.  I don't know if i****ing 50 lbs, or if it was because I had been out of sight for a week, but it seems like people have really started noticing!

It really depends on how you carried your weight etc.  I lost a lot of my weight in the beginning in my face...but I had lost about 35 pounds and lost about 2-3 pant sizes and all people kept saying to me was "you can really tell it in your face"  Well...hello...I didn't lose 35 pounds off of my head.

People will start saying stuff...give it time.  And then pretty soon they'll be telling you that you are losing TO much and look TO thin and you'll be just as discouraged and pissed off!!

Keep it up and don't let the ignorance bother you!

Well--It really started for me towards the tail end of my year out I think because I was able to start wearing less baggy clothes....and started wearing all the cute sundresses I hadn't worn in years..so it all depends--I am a slow loser--I'll lose 5-10 pounds then the scale wont move for weeks.  Again, I think it is how Pam put--how you carried the weight before....some people will notice it in your face..others in your waist...it just depends.

Don't get wrapped up in what others think or say--You are doing this for you and you are suceeding --eventually all the weight will come off and everyone will notice!!!!!

Much luv!!

I've lost 38 total, down 3 sizes and some people are starting to say something now. My father whistles at me when he sees me (LOL)! But my best friend just said she noticed. It's hard to because I am still wearing my old clothes cause I don't want to buy new ones yet. So, they are so big people may not notice the change. Maybe they also are uncomfortable and don't know if they should say anything fearing they may be invading your privacy?

It was a loooong time for me before people started saying things, if I recall correctly. But I was over 375 in the beginning.

For the few people who didn't know I had surgery I would get 'Did you get new glasses" - 'Have you changed your hairstyle?' - stuff like that. I think sometimes people are hesitant to say something because they don't want to indicate that they thought you were 'fluffy' to begin with, so saying nothing is safer. But as you start changing sizes and things like that you'll definitely start getting compliments (and some weird comments).

Most of lose from the head down, I think - its really weird! I lost a lot in my face and then was told I didn't look good. Okay - thanks. Then my boobies started going and I got a lot of comments about that because I always had big ones but never lost them when I lost weight before - well, this is a totally different ballgame and the boobies will probalby go down several sizes. Mind you, I'm still a 40D but was a 48DD, so there is a big difference. And I lost a lot thru my shoulders and upper body and I think that was really noticable.

You know you can come here for encouragement any time - we're all in this together! But it is nice to hear it from people who aren't in the same boat as we were. It'll happen - give it some time. At my highest weight I had to lose 50 lbs before anybody commented on any change.

It was around 4 months before 'people' started commenting, and even then it was 'has something changed about you'.  Around 9 months out strangers (like the grocery store check out girl who had asking to see my ID) would notice that my drivers licence photo and who was standing in front of them had changed....

'They say' a 10% loss is perceivable by folks.
